ON:
Mok’Tor was in his quarters going over the security reports from both the marines chief and his own people and saw something that made his blood boil. The reports were conflicting and confused. He pulled up the logs of the yacht explosion and the one that had just happened in the nacelle control room and saw a pattern that troubled him greatly. All of the happenings were planned in such a precise order that the timing was coinciding with the accidents or in this case the problems that were ongoing in engineering. There was definitely a pattern and the information from J’Loni’s grandfather and the reports he was receiving via secured subspace communiques from the Klingon Intelligence Division were all pointing to the total disruption of the talks and the pending indications of destroying the blockade and well...he didn’t want to go further without speaking with Commander Bartlett. His communications with Commander J’Krel of the Klingon Intelligence Division, had confirmed the fact that the Wellington had a Cardassian on board posing as one of its command staff. That in itself left him thinking...Bowman. It would stand to reason, because of the death of the captain and those of the delegation on board the yacht, this would leave Bowman in charge and, who else, but one who could literally stop the talks, take command of the Wellington and use the ships resources to what end. Possibly destroy the Dalacari station post, possibly New Earth itself? And with the arrival of the combined Klingon and Cardassian ships that were already en route...the implications were overwhelming and his information from the Empire was bonified so he began to think of a way to spring a trap to capture those responsible for this dishonorable and cowardly act. If he could work with the XO and possibly engineering, they would, just might be able to make his trap work. A trap within a trap…
“Lt. Mok’Tor to Commander Bartlett, may I have a moment of your time as soon as possible. It is imperative I speak with you before the next set of talks”, he spoke into his combadge. Gathering his information PADD’s and making sure he had what he needed he waited for her response.
"Understood." Michelle said. "I'll come down to Security. Bartlett out."
He had just finished makimg out the new orders to the team's patrols when his small PADD chirpped, alerting him he had just received an encrypted message from Qu'onS. He was about to open it up when the doors opened up and Commander Bartlett entered. Getting to his feet, "Commander, thank you for coming. Please have a seat. There is much to discuss and little time", he said, as he secured the room the same way J'Loni did, taking that added precaution.
"You're welcome." Michelle said. "It sounded urgent when you messaged me... Please tell me we've got something."
"Commander as you know, I have been on top of this from the start and I have found a very distinct pattern pf events that started when this ship left New Earth Station. It would seem that on Starbase 231, the tampered chips and equipment were installed with the knowledge that this ship was going to be the vessel sent to deal with this situation. Once we departed New Earth, a single chip, encoded would set things in motion. The finding of the Cardassian command chip by engineering in the communications systems is proof of that. It established that upon further examination by engineering that this chip, at a designated time would send to the Cardassian Order the message of our ships total defensless nature. Engineerings continued efforts to find and remove the affected parts have made it apparent to LoMah that engineering is close to possibly stopping their plans to disable the ship. The deaths of the captain and the others is even more evidence that there is another operative onboard and I have just received an encoded communique from thr Klimgon Intelligence Division on Qu'onS possibilly giving e the answer that has eluded both the Federation and the Empire", he said, picking up the small PADD. Moving to where she could read it he entered his code and it read, " Lt. Mok'Tor, We have now found out who you have onboard the Wellington that is the Cardassian operative." Lt. J'Krel went on to say, "Her name is Commander Bowman and she is not human but a full blooded Cardassian agent. I trust this information confirms your original suspicions. Our intelligence operatives on Cardassia have ben able to vetify this so this is why we are passing this on to you. It comes with the blessings of the Chancellor in good faith. Quap'la", and the PADD went black. Mok'Tor gave the PADD to the Commander, who sat there not moving. "It is clear that the deaths of Meru and Copeland mean that engineering is truly beginning to make Lo'Mah nervous and therefore the need to kill them would stop further investigations", he said.
Michelle sat for a moment, very quietly. Though to the poor Lieutenant, it seemed like an eternity. "Of course, the intel will have to be verified by our Strategic Operations team... We were supposed to be picking up the rest of the department after this." she added with a heavy sigh. "It would explain so much about all of this. Once it's confirmed, we have to act quickly. I do very much suspect that Lo'Mah was a traitor, but... Shit. This also means we will have to retrieve the real Commander Bowman. Assuming she's alive."
"Commander, we may not have the time to have this verified by Strayegic Operations. These fleets are already on there way. I have a simple trap in mind, a trap within a trap, as an old earth writer once said. We could arrest both Bowman and Lo'Mah at the same time simultaneously. Bowman would be naturally at her post on the bridge, and Lo'Mah's position could be located and at the same time be arrested ending this occupation, excuse the pun, but we would end this, thus taking out the threat on the Wellington. Since we have the fore knowledge that the Cardassian High Command is waiting for this signal from here, that the ship is disabled, we can sent it, setting their end of their surprise in motion. Bevause we know already what they are planning, we would be waiting for them and give them a warm welcome. Surprise would be on our side. However, I must remind you that the Cardassian ships have a cloak that we can not detect and it is quite possible that they have a ship within the area around the station and Welligton", he added. He walked to his window of his office and looked out into space.
"At the talks, I will have a detachment, small, stationed behind the Klingon delegates in case they become argumentive and try to give false statements instead of the truth. I am sure that Commander Mo'Bri is capable in speaking for the Klingon people and the Chancellor", he stated confidently. Turning to face Commander Bartlet, "Now you see why I have been shadowing both Bowman and Lo'Mah. I suspected them both a long time ago", he said.
"What did you have in mind?" Michelle asked. "And what caused you to wonder? Until 3 days ago, Lo'Mah was a junior officer on board and Bowman... Well, maybe there is no surprise." she added. "And I will certainly take your advice regarding the course of action to take, Lieutenant but I have to have a solid amount of proof and show diligence if I'm to formally relieve the CO of command. Starfleet gets a smidge cranky with XOs who don't."
"When J'Loni spoke to me about the amount of system problems, naturally I inquired if perhaps she could determine if they were perhaps made to appear like Fedetation issue. She said she would endeavor to try and would tell me of her findings. It wasn't long before I teceived word from her about what she had found. In receiving news of their origin of Cardassian and Klingon design I began to wonder about who, in this case, possibly another Klingon officer being here on the ship who might be able to do this aside from the chief. When the news from the home world of the attempt on her house, I inquired on the House that Lo'Mah belonged to beside the others and when it was told he was of the House alligned ahainst herHouse and that his Gouse was a known member of The Cause, I began to shadow him closely. If he knew that Bowman was about to be arrested, it would be logical for him to carry out his final blow to these talks. Knowing of his disregard for human life, he would try to steal a Razor fighter, and flee to one of the BOP"s that were of The Cause fleet. In the process of his attempt, he would set off an explosive device in the shuttle bay taking it out. With the amount of ordinance and reserve fighters the results would be devastating say nothing of destroying the ship im the process. Ot is my intention to see it does not happen. I will be behind him every step of the way and arrest him in the shuttle bay. It would thus seal his traitorious actions for a court martial and his stripping of is rank making him a plain Klingon. This would allow for his extridition to the Klingon flagship and back to Klingon soil. As for Bowman...this message from J'Krel and it's information is sufficient enough. She is Cardassian and an operative. You deal with her. Our way of Klingon justice, for the Federation is a bit more...harsh and you would say a bit more barbaric. Traitors only get one sentence...death!", he said, answering borh her questions.
"All that worries me is where the real Bowman is." Michelle said. "We'll deal with the fake one. I'd like a copy of that report unredacted and on my desk within the hour." She added. "Also, I want you to make sure the shuttle bays and fighter bays are secured."
"Commander all the information you need is already on the PADD I have given you. I will personally see to the security of the shuttle bay and our fighters. I will be there to arrest him when he tries to flee. He will live to be tried, stripped and then delivered to the Klingon flag for his death. You have my word as the son of House Mordin", he stated. "Now Commander if there is nothing more, I have my rounds and several things to set in motion. Time is short", he said standing.
"You're free to go." Michelle said. "Thank you, Lieutenant." she said as she nodded and headed out of the ready room.
