About That Foot..

Posted on Wed Nov 15th, 2017 @ 12:56pm by Lieutenant Valeria Mordin & Lieutenant Roger Stevens & Lieutenant JG Odelle Lin

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/3
Location: Sick Bay
Timeline: Before the Talks

Lin was holding down Sick Bay, trying to keep up with the casualties from the most recent battle as well as the regular stuff. She was applying a dermal regenerator to an injured Security officer. "You didn't have to wait this long, you know."

"I thought it would heal but it still hurts like hell." the crewman said.

"Phasers have a way of doing that." she said with a grin. "Take some rest. I'll let Lieutenant Barnaby know I want you off duty for a couple days."

"Thanks, Doctor." the crewman said as Lin updated his medical chart. "Do we have any others?"

"Not that I know of yet, Doctor." the nurse replied.

"I'm sure we'll take care of that quickly, won't we?" Lin said.

Roger came into the sick bay with only a slight limp on his right leg, but wasm't really showing signs of pain. However there was a slight look of dread around him as he looked around the office, like he was afraid.

Accompanying him was the previously incarcerated and recently liberated rabbitess, Valeria. She stood by his side as he limped, as though prepared to catch or stabilize him should he stumble. "Minor attention." she called out, versed in some medical technique. "Kicked a low-level security force field, knocked out the power through kinetic feedback." she noticed his discomfort and dread, but chalked it up more to just anxiety over seeing doctors. Sometimes humans could be such children.

"I do not believe there were any other injuries, so the foot up to mid-calf is the focus." she advised. Ts'usugi had a funny way of passing on information, where in the wrong tone it could sound like someone telling you how to do your job, but if the tone is tweaked just right, there's a tone of assistance.

Lin looked at the science officer. "Who needs a medical tricorder?" she said with a laugh. "You're right though. Why the hell did you kick a force field?"

Roger looks at her dead serious "I needed to short out the briggs systems so I could stop a Klingon named Lo'Mah from killing her" He points to Valeria. "Its not the first time i have done it, but i would normally have sturdier footwear and didn't have time to change". His voice very moniton, like he was making sure he didn't say anything to make them angry.

"Wait, the new Marine CO?" Lin asked. "What the hell have I been missing might be the better question" as she ran the tricorder over the foot to mid-calf. "You really rammed it good." she said. "But I guess he didn't kill you, so it worked. There's a fracture in your foot from the effect. I can run a regenerator over it to heal it, but you're going to need at least something for the pain."

Valeria gave a nod, "I'm very grateful to be alive. I have my whole life to look forward to." she said with a smirk, "And... I like to be thorough. Walking into the unknown when someone has the information you need seems rather wasteful."

Besides, Roger seemed uneasy around doctors. She'd repay his kindness of saving her life with saving him from prolonged anxiety.

Roger hopped onto the bed, putting his feet up. "Don't bother with the pain medication... you need about five times the dose you'd give too a raging klingon or vulcan too give me about a half hour of relief." He sighed a bit "nor is it really going to be a problem soon, take a look at it with that tri corder again"

Lin did so, putting the hypospray down. "Your foot is... You're somehow healing yourself." she said. "What on...." she added trying to pull up his medical file, of which almost all was classified. "Who redacts how many times you've had the cold?"

Roger took a deep breath "As my resident doctor for the time being you will need full access to my records, and oddly as a science officer you will too Valeria. Too receive access you must agree to the following terms. You shall not, except extreme circumstance or medical need, reveal the information granted too you. Doing so will result in immediate investigation and potential court martial upon completion of said investigation. Do you accept these terms?"

Valeria smirked, "You're just full of surprises." she thought about the terms dictated, and gave a nod, "I accept."

"I accept." Lin said, a little confused still but for the most part rolling with it. "This should be fine in a matter of hours. Ordinarily it would take days to resolve this."

He takes Lin's PaDD and unlocks his medical history, with full notes. Its a near wonderland of medical breakthroughs that seemed to require Rogers exact dna and procedures Dr Mangala would frown upon to achieve. It has notes on how to deal with just about everything that could happen to Roger, almost like it had happened to him. Even notes on what to do in case of radiation poisoning. They simply read 'Do Nothing, it will sort its self out'.

Valeria poked her head over towards Lin's PaDD to take a look at the unlocked records, then remembered her manners and looked away. Certainly she'd be getting her own copy, but moreso it was rude to read over someone's shoulder. Though what she glimpsed was enough.

"High end DNA processing and CRISPR re-sequencing. Barbaric, but beyond effective. Though, as a daughter of Ts'usu I gave my word. Your secrets guard themselves." and she gave Roger a nod.

Lin looked at it, a bit gobsmacked. But... What could really be done in this instance? "Well.. It seems that you're going to be in perfect health in an hour or so. Just go easy on your feet for the next few minutes, I guess." she said with a grin. "If you don't mind my asking, Mr. Stevens... Was this why you're no longer in Starfleet?"

Roger nods "By legal definition I am a genetically altered human and thus not eligable to be in Star Fleet. No one was going to bring it up, but it somehow got leaked too the general public and the uproar made people panic. Thus i had to go"

"That's unfortunate, but you saved a lot of disgrace and scandal with your actions." Valeria said, approving of this tactic. "So, keep it easy on the foot for a few? I hear the diplomatic talks are scheduled to start soon, and if it's one thing the Dalacari love, it's food." she paused, "Next to that, it's ease of access of said food. I expect seats and food plates that sail across the room to land on your table."

The rabbitess smirked, "Or drone servants."

"Food sounds wonderful right now. I haven't eaten since thia morning and i burn through calories like a warp core"

"Well you should be fine to go stuff your faces." Lin said with a grin. "I'd ordinarily say to keep an eye on him but he has to be the first person that I can't regularly treat." she said. "Good luck."

Valeria gave a nod, then turned to Roger, "I'm going to stop by my quarters and change out of this uniform. I'm hardly presentable for any sort of diplomatic function."

"I dunno... I think you'd look good anywhere in anything" Rogers eyes widened when his brain finally caught up with his mouth and he realized what he just said. He then shot up off the bed "i uh... should go... get changed... yeah..." he bolted off.

Valeria watched him go, then gave Lin a smirk. The smirk was on loan from Satan himself, and seemed to simply say the phrase....

'Still got it'.
