Rehab

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: The Prancing Mythical Creature

Hailey sidled up next to Cally at the bar. It was just after noon and itbwas obvious that the drink in front of the Betazoid wasn't her first, "Isn't it a bit early to be drinking, Cally?" She asked her friend, one hand down by her side.

"Nope!" Cally grinned at the Marine, "Too early is seven. But I'm bored, Hales, the ship isn't going anywhere and all the shuttle trips are just to the planet or to the station and back. There's nothing to do and I'm bored."

"You could catch up on your shooting training?" Hailey auggested, "Take up a martial arts form? Learn how to patch people up even."

"There's a lerfectly good bar here now, not gonna let it go to waste." Calypso threw back the rest of her drink and almost fell off the stool.

Hailey caught her and kept her from falling, something silvery glimting in her hand and there was a slight hiss as she grabbed the other woman who went limp. Hailey slipped the item, a hypospray, into one of her pockets as she picked up the pilot's weight with a grunt. She'd hauled heavier, but it was still a heavy load.

She had Cally's arm slung over her neck and worked her way towards the set of empty quarters that she had picked out as their rehab center and had sent Temperance the location that morning. On the way, she squeezed Cally between her and the wall to keep her upright as she keyed a comm code, "I have her.. Will be there in about five minutes."

Temperance sighed softly, as she acknowledged the communication. She still wasn't entirely sure how she had managed to get herself into this, but she had, and now she had to stick to her word. Straightening her uniform, she turned and made her way to the prearranged location.

The first thing she did on entering the quarters was to take a look around for anything that may have been used as a weapon should someone be so inclined. The quarters was unused, so it was sparse, but Temp made mental note of a few things that struck her has having potential. She didn't really expect things to become violent, more so she expected lots of yelling and shouting, perhaps even a piece of broken furniture, but she didn't expect any real violence to occur, still, she was prepared.

Sinking down into one of the single seat chairs, Temp crossed her legs neatly and waited.

Hailey stumbled into the room, still supporting Cally's weight as she finally got her in and dumped her onto the floor, then hunched over catching her breath, "A little bit of tranquilizer and she was out like a light bulb. And she may be short, but she's surprisingly dense."

As soon as the doors parted and Temp realized that Hailey was hauling Cally's dead weight, Temp jumped up and dashed across the room, reaching them just in time for Hailey to dump Cally unceremoniously on the ground. Looking down at the sleeping form, Temperance put her hands on her hips momentarily. "Shall we just let her sleep it off there, at least for the moment?" she finally asked, shaking her head.

Hailey reached into her other pocket and pulled out a second hypospray, "Not a chance." She put it down and reached down, "After we secure her to a chair, the bed, something, because once I wake her up,she's not going to be happy. And then, I'm going to speed up the sobering process by skipping the sleep and going straight to the hangover."

Temperance resisted the urge to laugh at the slight vindictive streak in Hailey's plan. "Alright, I would suggest we get her onto a chair, it will be easier to secure her. I scoped the quarters out just before you came in, the bed doesn't really provide much in the way of places to anchor restraints. The chair, well, it's the best option in the immediate here and now. I did take the liberty of popping by Security and grabbing a few sets of cuffs, I wasn't sure how many we'd need, so there's 4 sets on the table over there." She paused and looked across at Hailey. "Let's get her moved and restrained," she said, taking a deep breath before leaning in to help haul Cally up into the single seat chair she had just vacated.

Taking care to not make them too tight, Hailey attached the cuffs to the chair and one to each ankle and wrist, then stood and stepped back from the limp woman, "This is not going to be pretty." She shrugged off her uniform jacket and tossed it onto the table, then pulled the hypospray out again, and spun it once in her hand and pressed it to Calypso's neck and with a hiss, it was in.

Cally's eyes opened after a few seconds and she looked suspiciously at Hailey through sluggish lids, still obviously inebriated, "Wher'd the bar go?" She slurred, trying to lift a hand and finding she couldn't. "Wai... What you doing?" Her eyes searched and saw Temperance, "Hey,Ten,... um... Teamster, you, you there.. What's going on?"

"Hi Cally Two Ways," Temp said softly, deciding to try and keep it as amicable as possible for now. "I'm just here for moral support, for both of you... but I think Hailey wants to speak to you first, ok. Would you like me to get you some water?"

Hailey nodded, "Cally, you're drinking too much. And not also at the right times."

"Really?" Cally's eyes sharpened a bit, "There's nothing going on, Hales, lit-ter-al-ly nothing. If I get smashed, there isn't any downside." She looked over at Temperance, "You're in on this too? Why should I stop drinking?"

"Cally, Hailey is concerned about you, not just about your physical and mental health, but your career, your future. You're good at what you do, but honestly, if you don't stop and think this through, you're going to throw it all away, and for what? The next shot glass of fun?" Temp sighed softly and sat on the larger couch. "You need to hear her out."

"She's not my mother, neither are you!" Cally shot back, then glared over at Hailey, "I don't need help, I've got this under control."

Hailey for her part, remained somewhat impassive and slid another vial into the hypospray, "Since we don't have enoigh time for you to sleep on this, Cally, I'm giving you something to umm.... 'Pass the time' up another twelve hours."

Calypso's eyes opened at that thought. In the mornings, she usually had a hangover headache, but there were ways to deal with that, a few ways, but she couldn't move her arms or legs She shook her head and looked pleadingly at the approaching Hailey, then to Temperance, "Look, you do NOT need to do this, Hales, I-I-I'll be good, I'll slow it down,. Miss Temporary, or whatever, please don't let her do this."

Suspecting that what ever Hailey was about to do was likely going to be somewhat unconscionable, Temperance stood up. "I'm going to go wash my hands in the bathroom," she announced loudly. If she wasn't a witness to anything then there was nothing that happened, or at least, that's how she was going to rationalise it to herself. At the end of the day, it was entirely necessary... regardless. "Maybe I'll see if there's some tylenol in there while I'm going," she muttered under her breath as she walked away. "I can feel a headache coming on."

The look of pleading turned to desperation as the hiss of the hypo spray announced whatever Hailey had hit her bloodstream. As if out of nowhere, Cally's head began to throb with her elevated heartbeat. Hailey patted her on the shoulder and placed the bucket on a small lap table onto Cally's lap and strapped it down as well before walking over and into the bathroom as well, "We'll give her a few minutes to get it out of her system." Before Temp would have been able to ask what, the sounds of someone emptying their stomach came through the door.

Temp leaned back against the wall and looked across at Hailey, wincing at the sound. "Do you think she's going to be ok?" she asked softly. "This isn't cruel and unusual punishment is it?"

There was a moment where the other room lapsed into silence before the sounds started again. "Oh I can't stand that sound... I really can't..."

"All this is is the body's reaction to a hangover, not cruel and unusual. A reminder of what happens when you drink too much." Hailey shrugged, "Probably one more round and I'll clean up. I don't like this either, but I'm used to doing things I don't like."

"I'll replicate some room temperature water for her, with a straw. I dare say she's going to want to drink something." Temp laced her fingers together and tucked them behind her back. "You're a good friend for caring about her this much," Temperance finally said softly. "Too many people would just look the other way and keep their distance. She'll thank you one day."

"I hope..." Hailey whispered, "I was on a blown op and she violated orders to leave us behind. She did quite a few SpecOps missions and she was our ride out on that one. We also worked together a couple other times, so when we were both at the Academy, I guess I just started looking out for her. I owe her my life, more importantly the lives of my team."

Temperance was slightly taken aback, admittedly she hadn't known Hailey for very long, but this was the first time she had seen the other woman show cracks in the tough marine exterior. Instinctively she reached out, resting her hand lightly on Hailey's arm. "She'll be ok, she will get through this, you both will." She glanced at the door. "It sounds quiet out there now, come on, I'll help you clean up." She offered a smile and drew a deep breath, steeling herself for what was coming.

"Go grab the water." Hailey smiled slightly, "I'm used to this and worse, doctor, remember?" She stepped through the door and breathed a sigh of relief. Her lap bucket setup had worked, but Cally's jacket was also a mess. She unstrapped and set the bucket on the floor before taking out a clasp knife and cutting the jacket off, then used the clean back of it to wipe Cally's face clean, then took the bucket and cloth into the bathroom to wash it out and recycke thebjacket.

Cally could barely open her eyes, and only saw the back of Hailey then motion to her side, "Kill me, please... It's better that way..." She said to Temperance.

Temp replicated a glass of room temperature water with a straw and carried it back to Cally, kneeling down next to the chair. "Don't be silly," she said quietly. "Here, take a sip of this, it will help." She held the glass up toward Cally's mouth, holding the straw to keep it still for her. "It's just water..." her voice trailed off as she glanced toward the bathroom door. "She's doing this because she cares about you," she said softly, referring to Hailey. "It's just has hard on her as it is on you, and if she could take away some of your pain now she would. She cares about you a whole awful lot, and if you throw this back in her face, then you're a fool."

"Why fix... What isn't.... Broken?" Cally said weakly after taking a sip. "And she has painkillers." She grimaced, seeing Haley walk out of the bathroom, "Hales, I know you mean well, but there are reasons.."

Hailey stepped over, then crouched, "Then you need you see a counselor, Cally, I have."

"Drinking is more fun, especially Unicorn Piss." She chuckled weakly, looking to Temperance, "Klingon moonshine, doesn't take much and when it goes through you, well... You know how unicorns fart rainbows and such? When you pee..."

"Thanks all the same but I'm good." She looked at Hailey, "Are you alright?" Temp asked softly.

Hailey nodded, part of her professional wall back up, she had to treat this like a medical issue, but this was her friend. "I'm good."

Temperance paused for a moment, then stood up. "I'm gonna just go for a walk, give the two of you a few minutes to chat, okay?" she said softly. "I'll be back in ten minutes, but if you want me sooner, just give me a shout, I won't go far away."

Hailey nodded, then moved to where Temperance had been sitting, taking the cup of water into her hands, "I didn't have the courage to come to you myself, Temperance is here to help the both of us." It always hurt her to show any sort of fear, on or off the battlefield. "I needed to talk to you sooner, but..."

"You think you owe me." Cally was succinct about it, "You don't. I was doing my job, Hales, doing what I was supposed to do. Yes, I disobeyed orders that time, but it was the right thing to do. I couldn't just leave you guys down there, especially since I had to go through the lift anyways, I just didn't want to go back empty-handed. And I didn't hear the initial orders." She added at the end,"I was sleeping and I barely heard anything until they asked for confirmation. I wouldn't have followed them anyways, since I was your ride out, but I hadn't heard them."

"Regardless, you saved our asses." Hailey held up the water and Cally took another sip, "And right now, I'm going to return the favor. I've got you off duty for the next two weeks, doctors orders. And for the next few hours, we're going to keep you restrained so I can work on you to get the toxins out of your body. And you're going to see a counselor tomorrow or the next day, and we are going to find an alcoholic's group for you to attend, people who have the same problem. And I'm going to go through your quarters t take it all out."

"But my Unicorn's Piss!" Cally complained loudly, "You can't just pour it down the drain!" Her eyes went wide, it was one of her most prized possessions, "Can't you just... Keep it for me?" She saw the flat look Hailey had given her, "Or see if Roger would take it to keep for me?" She glanced up, "Fine, for the bar, for the bar..."

Temperance paused before stepping back through the doors. "You guys ok in here?" she asked quietly, not entirely sure if she should have stayed out longer or not. "Anyone need anything? Water? Tea? Coffee? Chocolate?"

"Water, if you don't mind?" Hailey asked, "I'll stick with what she's having and will probably convert to a mild tea in a few hours... Unless you know a really soothing tea on the throat?" She patted Cally's knee, "From all the puking."

"Actually, I would suggest a mild chamomile tea with a bit of honey," Temperance replied gently. "The chamomile and the honey are both soothing for the irritation, and it will help in other ways too." She walked across to the replicator and programmed in her exact requirements, waiting as two glass mugs, one with a straw, appeared filled with a dark amber liquid. She picked up two and carried them across, handing one to Hailey and holding the other one toward Cally. "Sip it slowly," she said gently. "If it's too hot tell me, I can add a little water to cool it."

Hailey took a sip of it, then smiled, "This really is good, and being English, I do like my tea." She winked at Cally, who did manage a laugh, "I'm not going to kid you, Cally, this is going to suck andostly for you."

The pilot rolled her eyes, then grimaced and took a drink of the tea, "Nooooo, really?" She said sarcastically, "I never would have guessed." She hung her head slightly, "And both of you are going to hold me to it, aren't you?" After Hailey nodded, she looked at Temperance.

Temperance looked at Hailey and then looked back toward Cally and nodded quickly. "Sorry Cally two ways, she's scarier than you!" She offered a smile. "Hey, it won't be all that bad, honestly.."

Hailey's slight grin caused Cally to shudder, "You know, I think you're right."

Hailey chuckled at that, "No, it won't be all that bad. I'll be here all night tonight and tomorrow I'll bring Eries in to help us look after your detox. Tomorrow is going to be the worst of it, and we'll go from there."

Standing up, Temp straightened her jacket. "Well, I'll get out of here and leave the two of you be, I'm sure you have plenty to talk about. I'm a light sleeper, so just give me a call if you want anything, either of you... okay?" she said quietly. "I'll check back in in the morning and make sure you've both survived the night." she laughed softly.

Hailey laughed and patted Cally's knee, "Sounds good Temperance, see you in the morning." As the other woman left, she turned back to Cally, "I spy with my little eye something silver."

"Oh shut up. Hailey."
