Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: Medical

With the usual soft swish, the doors to medical opened and allowed the figure beyond them entrance. A tall, dark furred male with the telltale long ears of the Ts'usugi with a big ole white patch right over his left eye. He walked in, muttering to himself about having finally found the location, and how the maps of this craft needed to designate which left was which... but as he found himself in his proper destination he took a breath and let all that grumbling out in a slow exhale.

He gave the attendant nurse on station a soft smile, "Sorry, first time on a Federation craft. I understand that there are usually required exams when transferring to a post, so here I am." he motioned slightly to himself. "Koh Otassu, Pilot. Bumped back down to Ensign because the best way to learn to climb a ladder is from the bottom." he chuckled slightly.

Siobahn spun around as she heard the duty nurse mention her name and found herself casting a quick gaze over the figure in front of her, one eyebrow quirking slightly. "Ensign Koh Otassu?" she queried as she approached, holding out her hand. "I'm Siobahn, if you come on through I'll get your exam started..." she paused momentarily, before speaking again. "I'll be honest, I just graduated from the Academy and the Delta Quadrant didn't feature very highly in our xenophysiology classes, so I'm not particularly familiar with your species..."

The lack of familiarity didn't sit well with her at all, especially considering at first glance she wasn't entirely sure if she was supposed to examine him or pat him on the head and call him fluffy... She smiled, shaking her head to clear the thought immediately. "If I take a little longer than normal I apologise, I'm going to be learning as I go," she said, grabbing a PaDD and pulling up his existing medical files.

Koh came around as bid, and took her hand in his in the universal symbol of greeting. "It's good to meet you, and I understand completely about the lack of familiarity. Trust me, the various races of your Federation are rather unusual to us as well, so I promise I won't take offense." he gave a soft smile as he let her take her hand back. "Please, take your time. I've got nothing on my schedule for the next, oh.... six hours?" he gave a chuckle. "I'll answer any questions you have. I've been a Ts'usugi my whole life, so I'm a bit of an expert. Lead the way."

"I really hope it won't be six hours," Siobahn replied with an easy smile. "Let's start with the basics," she scanned the PaDD as she grabbed a medical tricorder and flipped it open. "Your height and weight don't appear to have changed since your last medical, and your vitals all seem to be within normal ranges, which is great," she spoke lightly, still smiling. "What are your reflexes like?" she asked.

"I'm pretty relieved to hear that." He said with a smirk, "As for the reflexes, I'd say pretty impressive. Fighter pilot and all, but what's the test for that? Grab a pen, hit a joint, neural tracking?" he asked, honestly curious.

Siobahn grinned. "You officially know more about medicine than I do about fighter pilots," she laughed. "And yes, I will be checkin'. It's always interestin' to see what patients think themselves though. Sometimes patients are a little delusional about the state of their own health, but yes, given that I imagine you'd need to be pretty spot on with your reflexes, I'm sure you're right. Just scootch back on the bed, and relax..."

Turning back to the counter, Siobahn grabbed a reflex hammer and turned toward Koh, setting it on the biobed before wrapping both her hands around his upper arm, tracing the muscles down the arm to find the tendon. "I'm not getting fresh, I promise," she said with another smile before placing her thumb over the tendon and grabbing the hammer, striking her thumb gently. It was a little harder to physically see the reflex response because of the layer of fur covering his body, but with her fingers resting against the muscle on the under side of his arm it was easy enough to gauge that the reaction was perfectly adequate. She made a notation on the PaDD before continuing on with the rest of the reflex tests.

"I imagine the average patient thinks highly of themselves, and knows their biology in and out." he said, with the tone of humor. "Oh, only a little?" he chuckled, and sat on the bed and relaxed as bid. As she traced along his arm, she'd feel that the musculature was similar enough for it to be a direct comparison. When she promised him she wasn't getting fresh, he rolled his eyes, "Guess I'm losing my touch." he commented with a smirk, taking it all in good fun. As she brought the reflex hammer around, though, he became a diligent little patient. Remaining calm and relaxed, and stopping any distracting chatter as she tapped.

"First time working on someone with fur, I imagine?" he offered between tests.

"That obvious huh?" she looked at him and grinned. "Your physiology is remarkably similar to humans, which makes my job easier, but your bone structure is... well, unique... isn't it?" she asked curiously. "I'm guessing broken bones aren't a common occurrence for your people?"

"Hardly. I commend your subtlety." he said with a smirk, "As for breaks, they're not common but they're always deserving of attention. Ts'usugi bones don't break so much as they shatter. One of the surest ways to find every piece is to use harmonics, which causes the shards of bone to gently hum. Which, you could imagine, is quite uncomfortable for the patient." he recounted.

"And how do you know that human physiology isn't similar to a Ts'usugi's?" he teased a bit of philosophy into the mix. "Aside from the fact that there's, what, seventy billion billion miles between the edge of your space and the edge of our's?"

She laughed as she continued with the physical. "seventy billion billion miles is just a hop and a skip in the grand scheme of space, and really, stranger things have been known to happen within human history, so it really wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Human's have a long and drawn out fascination with alien involvement on Earth, who's to say that the stories we pass off as being ridiculous don't have some kind of basis in truth?" she countered easily.

"I suppose it's easier to consider alien involvement to explain things that defy explaination. Strange lights in the sky, strange symbols in the ground, rocks that look like faces in the right shade." he rattled some off with a smirk. "Then you get a little more understanding under your belt and suddenly there are answers right there."

"It's damn interesting how a few years of thinking can put things in perspective." a pause, "Or... ages ago the Ts'usugi visited Earth and put signs there to point to the heavens." he said in one of those conspiratorial whispers.

Siobahn took a slight step back, tilted her head to one side slightly and grinned wickedly. "Well, it makes perfect sense to me... the Ts'usugi visited the Earth, and thus the legend of the Easter Bunny was born," she replied with a laugh.

Koh gave a chuckle, it all just sounded so ridiculous. "Okay, you have a legendary Bunny on your planet? This I have to hear."

"Oh goodness, you've seriously never heard of the Easter Bunny?" Siobahn replied, surprise clear on her face. "I guess it is somethin' of an antiquated thing now... but long story short, once a year the Easter Bunny, which is depicted as being a human sized upright walkin' bunny sneaks into the bedrooms of sleepin' children leaving them egg shaped chocolates to commemorate the resurrection of the murdered son of an Earth deity."

Koh had that look on his face, like some grand realization was just made. "I passed a small child on the way here, with their mother, and they gave me such a look and a smile. I didn't get it then, but I do now." he chuckled, "Now they think they're on the same ship as this... Easter Bunny." Koh suggested with a smirk. "Then again, free candy is a universal thing it seems. We have a few holidays back in the empire that are similar. Every year on the Emperor's birthday, children get candy as a gift, for example."

Siobahn laughed. "Oh gracious," she said with a shake of her head. "You know stories of your presence are going to be told in the school room now, and come Easter you are going to be mobbed with excited little children begging for candy! I certainly hope you like sticky fingered little children," she finished with a laugh. "There are a lot of Earth holidays that revolve around candy, Halloween is probably the most prolific though, it's like a candy palooza..." she shook her head. "Oh to be a kid again huh?"

"Three elder siblings, trust me, *I'M* the little kid." he chuckled, "But no, you know what, I think it'd be cute to give the kids something to be excited about." he gave a soft smile. "So there's Easter, and now Halloween. You sure these aren't all just scams the kids use to get candy?" he asked as she continued the exam, now clearly just humorous in his tone."

"The only other one really is Christmas, and that isn't so much candy but more about 'gifts'... same son of the Deity from Easter, but it's his birth, not his death, and instead of bein' a bunny, it's a fat man in a red costume who climbs down your chimney and leaves presents under a tree, so you're safe for that one." She laughed and shook her head as she reached for the PaDD again, mentally checking off her progress. "Right, we don't have a whole lot to go," she said easily. "Entry medicals are really pretty straight forward, once we're done I'll record all the information in your file and it will go through to be checked off by one of the senior doctors, if they have any concerns they will let you know, but so far you seem to be in impeccable health."

He gave a nod at her statement of his health "Good to hear, thank you." he then considered what else she said, "So that's two major Human holidays that involve a mythical being violating your home. Very odd." he said, considering, "Though, who am I to judge?" the rabbit mused. "I might want to confer with the other Ts'usugi on board, but I think it may do well for crew morale to help observe several major holidays. Bring a little piece of your home out here in the deep of space." he offered, "We're a long way from your home, but I think with a little good fun, the sons and daughters of Ts'usu might be able to help bridge the gulf of space a little better, especially for the younger passengers."

"Well, yes... the third holiday, Halloween, involves children knocking on people's doors and demandin' candy or they will 'play tricks' on the occupants." Siobahn replied with a smirk. "But yes, celebratin' holidays might help make it easier, at least for those from Earth. And I'm sure you'll make a fine lookin' Easter Bunny!"
