The Engineering Musketeers Arrival

ON:

“Get up William...come on hurry we will be late!” she said pulling the covers off of him.

“What the hell woman!!” he shouted at her. “We don't’ have to be to work!” he hollered, rolled over in the bed.

J’Loni didn’t know how to keep this from him and didn’t want him to know either so she had to invent something to get him out of the bed. She also had to hide her emotions and thoughts because he would be sure to read them very quickly. Burying the thoughts and emotions, she came up with an idea. “William come on...get the hell up or we will miss it!” she said as she pulled him out of the bed onto the floor.

“Jesus woman you are mad! What on earth could be more important than sleeping late this morning?”, he said as he picked himself up from the floor.

“Jenna and I have something to show you. Now come on please. I have to get her up and feed the pets”, she said picking the still sleeping child up and gently waking her. By now the wolves and eagle were up and eating their food, and William was in the shower. She hurried to get Jenna dressed and fixed her food and sat down to eat her own food not waiting for William to finish or get to the table. She had a time frame to stick to and she didn’t want anything to go wrong. This was going to be a surprise for William and she knew he was going to love it.

As it was, she had already asked for her old engineering departmental heads to be transferred to the Wellington, and was just waiting for the orders to be granted. The guys, she knew, would be surprised to find that they were being transferred and promoted at the same time but what she didn’t want was either William or the guys to know it was her doing, at least not yet. That was to be part of the surprise. She got the answer yesterday by subspace that the orders were cut and they would be on the shuttle in the morning which would dock at10:30 in the morning. It was hard not to tell William and not let Jenna know that her uncles were coming to be part of the family again. A surprise isn’t a surprise if you even tell just a little of it.

“Mommy...what is going on?” Jenna asked. “Why are we going out early today? Are we going to see Tango and Cash? I want to see them so much please mommy?” Jenna pleaded with her.

“No Jenna dear, we are not going to see Tango and Cash but we are going to see something much better in a little while and I promise you will love it”, she replied to the still yawning child. Smiling at her daughter, she finished dressing her and looked at William who was just finishing up doing his hair.

“Well woman, I am ready. What is the rush? Wait the pets stay here right?” he asked.

“No, they come too. It is for everyone to see.” she said smiling coyly.

“I know that smile lady. What have you got up your sleeve?”, he said looking deep into her eyes trying just to figure out what she was hiding. William knew she was hiding something there but he couldn’t figure it out just yet. He would have to be on his guard to sense when her wall comes down so he could pry.

“Come on, lets go! It is nearly 10:30”, she said as they left their quarters. Hurrying through the station, they approached the docking ring and stopped just short of the walk way. She looked at the chronometer and it read 10:29. They had just made it as the doors swayed open.


“Oh I give up! What the hell are we doing here?”, he said almost annoyed. True he was annoyed at being tossed out of the bed on a day when he didn’t have to be at work but to be dragged to the docking ring? And for what? To watch people exit a shuttle? This wasn’t sitting well with him at all.

“William shut up and just watch!” she said. She had brought the video recording device so she could record the whole entire reunion and preserve it. It was going to be a spectacle to see and preserve for all times sake. Jenna was standing just behind her leg, the two wolves were sitting on one side and Hawk was sitting on Williams shoulder as the passengers exited. Suddenly Hawk ruffled his feathers, and the wolves stood up as the hair on their backs slowly raised letting her know that they had caught the sent of the other pets that they knew from before. She raised the video corder up as the last six passengers exited the shuttle. In a flurry of feathers, hair, and amid yips and screeches, birds, dog, wolves, ferrets and one little girl were all in one ball of fury sitting on the deck laughing and kissing and in general having a ball. William on the other hand was totally in shock and all five guys attacked him, landing on the deck laughing, kicking and rolling like school kids, hugging and hand shaking and back slapping, boys just being boys, happy to see each other after 5 long years. When she looked again at her daughter, she noticed that the sixth passenger, her friend, T’Lisha was sitting in the group of pets playing with Balboa and Jenna and laughing and carrying on. Well to say the least this was such a ruckus that security came over to see what was going on. There was a growing crowd coming to see what the melee was and soon the guys were dusting themselves off amid cheers and clapping from the onlookers and they walked over to her.

“Thanks boss for getting us here all in one piece”, said Eric. “We are happy to be one family again and together. One for all and all for one as we all say!”, he added.

“Yes boss, that is so true. It wasn’t the same without you and William. Glad to be here and thank you”, said Thomas.

“Very well spoken Thomas and quite true”, added Joseph, as his wife came up and kissed her with the children. “Glad to be here and together again boss”, he said.

“Well then lassie...glad ta see ya doing well there. Brought T’Lisha with me and thanks for her orders too. I don’t know what I would have done if she wasn’t coming along. We both really missed you and are glad to be together again”, Charlie said, and he gave her a hug and kiss.

Backing up she looked at her happy musketeers and said, “Well it is good to see all of you again. I am proud that I could make this happen and the way it did. I got it all on tape and we can watch it later over a good dinner in my quarters after you all get settled in. The Wellington should be here tomorrow and we will all be joining her together”, she said proudly.

In unison the guys said, “You made this happen? Way to go Boss Lady”, they said and then turned to face each other, raising their hands in the air and saying, “One for all and all for one, the Engineering Musketeers are together again!”
