Sorry Babe, Gotta Go

Posted on Sun Feb 18th, 2018 @ 4:42pm by Major Hailey Weston & Gunnery Sergeant Ami Rori & Lieutenant JG Siobahn Fallon

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: Hailey's Quarters
Timeline: Immediately after SpecOpsWarning

Game on. That was what the first thought that went through Hailey's mind was as soon as she'd left the bridge. This was going to be the first mission of what people she had that she thought would be ready for a job of this sort and she had to think quickly. She turned in the turbolift and snapped the order to the proper level, then hit her commbadge, "Valentine, Chavez, Rozhev, saddle up, wheels up in sixty, Rori to my office in ten." She cut off the comm before any of them could reply, then tapped it, "Weston to Fallon. Can I borrow you for a minute in my quarters? One of my people has an issue I can't fix myself."

"On my way," Siobahn replied quickly, grabbing a medical kit and ducking out of sickbay. The fact that she was called to Hailey's quarters made her think that there wasn't actually a medical issue that needed her intervention, especially given that Hailey was infinitely more skilled in medical than she was, but there was something about the tone of her voice that set Siobahn on edge as she ran through the corridor.

The moment she hit her quarters, Hailey started to strip out of her ship uniform and tossed the pieces wherever they lay, then ducked into her bedroom and started pulling on a set of a variable camoflage uniform pieces before sweeping out into the main room of her quarters while still sealing the various pieces, heading for the dresser/table that had her rifle and pistols on it.

Stepping through the doors, Siobahn stopped, the medical kit slipping from her fingers, hitting the deck with a dull thunk. While she hadn't seen it first hand previously, the sight of the camouflage uniform and the weapons left her with no doubt what was happening. "When do you go?" she asked quietly.

"I have to be in the shuttlebay in thirty minutes." Hailey smiled slightly, making sure both pistols were attached solidly to the belt and leg, tightening the leg cinches for them, "A team of us is heading into Cardassian space to make an extraction of Commander Bowman, who was supposed to have been the exec on this ship before the whole sabotage thing happened."

"I see..." Siobahn paused, her hand immediately moving to her hair, twisting it slowly around one of her fingers. "Do you know how long you'll be gone?" She released the twist in her hair and started twisting it again, tighter this time.

"Should only be a few days at most, Maybe upwards of a week. We have to get in, perform the mission and get out. Despite the location, this should be a relatively risk-free mission, as long as we're not burned going in or coming out." Hailey smiled as she adjusted the hat that her hair had all been bunched under, "I'm not going out to piss off an entire army this time."

"Well, I guess that's a good start," Siobahn replied with a wry smile. With a sigh, she untwisted her hair and dropped it, stepping in closer to Hailey and resting her hand on her cheek. "Just promise me you'll be safe?" she finished softly.

"As safe as I can be." Hailey smiled, "But we're going in to get an innocent woman out of there alive. It's a mission that's worth it, I promise."

“I know,” Siobahn replied softly, forcing a smile. Stepping back, she crouched down, gathering up the medical kit she had dropped. “I guess I will see you when you get back?” She asked, standing up, holding the medical kit firmly in her hands.

"Absolutely." Hailey smiled, reaching up to caress Siobahn's cheek, "You don't have to worry, this is an easy one."

Covering Hailey's hand with her own, Siobahn forced another smile. "I know," she replied quickly. "As you said, in and out... it will all be fine..." even she could hear the slight waver in her voice as she spoke. Closing the small gap between them she rose up, kissing Hailey softly before stepping back. "You should probably go..." she said quietly. "They're probably waitin' for you..."

Almost as soon as she had said the words, Siobahn shook her head slightly. "I need to go back to sickbay anyway," she said quietly, taking another step back and turning toward the door before sighing softly and turning back again. "Hailey... I..." she stopped speaking abruptly, biting down on her bottom lip instead for a long moment before forcing another smile. "Just, be safe, okay?"

"I will, I promise." Hailey ran her hands over everything one last time, then grabbed the rifle and slung it over her should, "You be careful."

With a nod, Siobahn turned silently on her heel and walked out of Hailey’s quarters, not trusting herself to say anything else.

Hailey stood there a good thirty seconds before taking a deep breath and leaving them, finding Ami already waiting for her in the office, "Gunny, I'm leaving you behind on this one, the remainder of the troops need a good, firm hand and well.." She chuckled, "You kindof have that sort of experience."

"You got it, Hailey... What are you walking into?" Ami leaned against the wall.

"Jungle terrain on a Cardy-held world, unknown outright threat picking up a Fleet officer. Nyx should be of really good use, especially with her experience in the terrain. I don't want to have to shoot, no guarantee there aren't sensors all around to pick up that energy signature. You know what Chavez and Rozhev can do, so I'll be in good hands." She smirked, "No reason we shouldn't be in and out pretty quick. I need to go find a couple engineers, though, so I have to run."

"Yeah, Nyx should be good... Wish I were there to cover your ass, good looking that it is." Ami laughed, "I'll keep them in hand."

"One more thing, Ami?" Hailey hesitated a moment, "Keep an eye on Siobahn? If the worst happens..." She shook her head, "I just want her to be all right." Her eyes met Ami's for a fraction of a second.

The trill nodded slowly, "Again, no problem. I need to get her in for her next training session anyways."

"Thanks..." She smiled slightly, "We'll be all right, there's no reason we shouldn't. 'She who laughs last?'"

"Thinks fastest." Ami finished, "Go get 'em, Hales."
