Checking in with the Captain

"What a ship! This is most pleasing and comfortable I dare say", she said, looking at her companion bird, Bear. Bear was her constant companion, whose place was perched on her shoulder. He was genetically enhanced on Betazed, and his function was to not only provide her companion ship, but to add strength to her own empathic side. It was mecessary because of her Klingon side being most prominent in her losing her cool. He would calm her down to a civil state of mind.

Bear flew to her shouler as she hoped the Captain would be understanding the need for him to be with her constantly. "Bear...you have to behave while I check in with the captain", she said as she opened the comm link. " Shemara to Captain Bartlett, I would like a sit down with you", she said. Now she would wait for her reply.

"Bartlett here." Michelle replied. "I'm in the ready room. Feel free to come to the bridge."

"Understood Captain. Will be there in a few minutes. Shemara out", and she closed the comm link. Looking on the half sleeping Bear, "Bear wake up. Now is not the time to nap. We are going to meet the captain", she said, stroking the bright shiny feather's of the raven sitting on her shoulder. Making sure that the wolves were locked in their cages, and the hawk was securely locked in his cage, she left with the raven squarely sitting on the shoulder pad, for the ready room.

Arriving about three minutes later, she hit the door chime.

"Come in." Michelle replied, sipping her tea as she waited for her guest to come in. She was slowly getting used to recieving new crew members though it still felt odd at times.

Taking a deep breath, she entered. "Lt. T'Ponga Shemara reporting in sir", she said as she snapped an exquisite salute.

"As you were." Michelle replied, pulling up her record. "Sounds like you just caught us. I hope the trip was alright."

"It was rather quiet, if you call quiet with twins and the pets. Captain I would like to introduce you to Bear, my...how do you call him...my sidekick?", she said.

"Bear, this is Captain Bartlett. She is the head of this vessel. You will obey her orders as if it came from me. Do you understand?" Bear looked at the woman in front of him and...did what could be only described as a curtsy bird style. Lowering his black head to her shoulder, and sticking one leg out in front, accomplished the feat in a perfect pose. "Oh Bear!...Captain that is his way of saying 'Hello' ", she said, blushing. Clearly this was going to go badly...

Michelle chuckled a little. She'd never expected to be curtsy'd to by a bird when she got out of bed. "Hello, Bear." she said. "As for pets and twins... I suppose it only gets so quiet."

"Quite right captain, it sometimes can get out of hand, but Bear has a knack for shutting everyone up and behaving", she said laughing. "Just before I took the transport I bumped heads with one of your former crew members who said you had a CEO who was...a miracle worker? I knew of a former CEO way back in the day who was called just that and believe me she was exactly what her nickname said. I kinda fell in line with her studies and practices and became almost like her but with her temper unchecked, she got her ass in the wringer and bounced back to Lieutenant on a science ship. I know she must have hated it. I know that if I were sent to a science ship I would literally die. Small ships with next to nothing in defensive weapons", she said slowly. "Well Captain, what do you expect from me and what can you tell me of your CEO?", she asked.

"Lieutenant Cordale is an easy man to get along with." she added. "And miracle worker sounds about right. Right now I need you to work with him and hold the team together." she paused a moment. "As I'm sure you heard, there was an incident in which most of our senior staff were killed and that includes our Chief Engineer. The other Chief Engineer was assigned to take over on a station that had been compromised by the Organization." Michelle added. "Other than that, just keep everything running."

"Yes sir. I will try and do that, without trying to be bossy", she said with a wide grin. "It is going to be different being in the second seat again!", she added, chuckling. "Well I guess I better get going and check in with the boss", she said, getting up. Smiling at the captain, she exited the readyroom and headed for engineering.
