What Happened Here?

Posted on Tue Aug 14th, 2018 @ 5:59pm by Lieutenant JG Sandra Garcia & Ensign Leyara Hamuul

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: Reh'Nar

Garcia was looking around the city, scanning and trying to find the outskirts. Sure, the buildings were great. But the outskirts would at least show what kind of plant life was being looked at. And they could quickly transmit samples back to the Wellington for analysis.

"Remarkable," Garcia said. "Nothing shows any sign of having aged. I mean I guess we'll see what the vegetation shows but this is the strangest thing I have ever seen."

"It assuming the temporal stasis was complete there would be no aging to be observed above the quantum level. still, it is always fascinating to be given a chance to view a culture at such an important point in its development," said Layara sounding almost wistful.

"I feel bad for some of the people though. It sounds like maybe they haven't fully established any peace yet," she said, walking through as she saw the edge of town. "It looks like the outskirts are another 20 minutes away on foot. I suggest we just get transported to a different set of coordinates and head on out. Do it somewhere away from the general population so they don't think we just appeared out of thin air?"

*Leyara cocked her head to the side thoughtfully for a moment. "I agree it would be a prudent call. perhaps assimilating into the native culture would not be amiss either. Our uniforms surely set us apart and might trigger xenophobia in the local population," Explained Leyara as she looked at the city thoughtfully.

"We were definitely getting some looks," Garcia replied. "Not even sure how we'd introduce ourselves. Bet you weren't expecting this on your first day," she added with a laugh.

25 minutes or so later, they were outside the city gates... Sandra began her first scans. Everything looked remarkably well preserved. Whatever had happened, there was no environmental damage at all. "Check out these readings. It looks like everything was just perfectly kept intact."

Leyara chuffed slightly and look about. "well it is perfectly preserved because from the perspective of everything here no time has passed, still, if we are to get in-depth scans we will need to pass for the natives that requires we get some probes into the city without attracting attention I could spawn a few low observable probes that might do the job though it will preclude me from leaving while they are in operation Lieutenant," suggested Layara her left ear twitching slightly.

"Proceed. If it gets us something to study faster, we can begin." Garcia replied.

Layara stretched out her hand several blisters like perturbances appeared then burst to reveal a swarm of nat sized insects that quickly dispersed on the breeze.

"what they see we see granted the range is somewhat limited but that is a drawback of the biology involved," they are based partially on a wonderful creature from earth, one which seems to be unjustly vilified,"Sighed Layara as she release a half dozen slightly larger organisms roughly the size of a large wasp the buzzed around her a moment before vanishing towards the city

"Those are considerably more sophisticated at the cost of also being more detectable but we should soon have useful information once we get our preliminary information we should be able to customize the probes to gather the data we need," explained Layara as she sat on the ground adopting a yoga-like pose.

Layara withdrew from her primary body as her conciseness expanded to her little organic probes the process, however, was not without consequences however as the limited processing power and the dispersion over a wider area left the main colony in something akin to a trance leaving it in less than a talkative frame of mind,
"We... are... aware... we observe... we gather," she said her voice hollow almost robotic.

Garcia simply looked on... She had no idea what was going on, but she simply observed. "What do you see?"
"We see a world trapped in darkness for... so long... a work lost in time only to now see the sun once again. over the course of a few hours, the remaining probes returned and reintegrated with the main body. slowly Layara started to recover her normal diction and energy.
" from what I observed there is evidence of long-term planetary stasis what is interesting as that it appears the stasis lock not only froze the planet but at the same token it is not necessarily in its original planetary alignment, in other words, no sun no solar radiation but the fact that the stasis lock was so perfect indicates that damage at the quantum level is minimal, fascinating" explained Layara.

"Let's start transmitting those reports back to Lieutenant Mordin. I'm sure she'll be fascinated and they'll want a full report." Garcia said as she checked around, only to see a Reh'Nari guard next to her.

"Halt." the guard said. "What is your purpose here?"

"I'm Lieutenant Sandra Garcia of the United Federation of Planets. I can assure you, I mean you no harm. We are explorers conducting scientific research."

"What kind of research might that be?" the guard asked.
"We are Ensign Layara Hamuul and we are researching cultural and temporal data, your worlds condition is facsinating and requires study," said Layara still internally reconfiguring her form and preparing for the possibility of needing to defend herself.

"We recieved...." Garcia paused a moment. "A distress signal that indicated there were some problems on your world." she told the guard. "My science officer was simply conducting analysis."

"A likely tale." The guard said. "Surprising of the Koldarans or the Jalari to be so sneaky. And yet, not."

"I can assure you, officer..." Garcia replied. "There aren't any Koldarans around for light years."

"A likely tale." The officer replied. "You will have to both come with us for questioning. We will release you once we are satisfied with your answers."

She looked at Leyara. "Do as he says." she added as she placed her phaser back in its holster and put her hands up.
