Timeline: July 8, 2399, just as planet appeared

The Reh'Nari archaeologists were working almost without any rest on what had once been a minor colony world within the Reh'Nari Imperium. Little was known on Reh'narus as to the circumstances in which their homeworld disappeared. All any child had been told was that they had fled a brutal war and a murderous despot who left little behind. There had at one point supposedly been a capital world in the former Imperium, but nobody had ever successfully found it. As far as they knew, perhaps it had been Reh'nar IV. And yet nothing about it looked like it had ever been a capital world. The female archaeologist looked at one of her subordinates as she studied the interior ruins of what looked to have been a public hall.

"What have you found?" she asked.

"Nothing that explains it, Kohren. Our scientists found nothing indicating an environmental disaster at the supposed area of Reh'nar Prime. And whatever this planet is? It's not it."

"What about Reh'nar 9?" she asked

"That's the odd thing." the assistant replied. "Reh'nar 9 looks nothing like reports of Ancient Reh'nar Prime. The architectural styles and technologies are completely different. They almost look Koldaran in nature."

"That's impossible." Kohren replied. "There were no Koldaran settlements in this cluster around the start of the Missing Age."

"That we know of."

"From what little our ancestors knew, they fled here from a war after the Capital was destroyed. The Imperator was a tyrant who often executed criminals without trial. His governments for 50 years had done little but wage war on another race that supposedly shared the cluster. But that race wasn't the Koldarans." Kohren replied. "When the capital collapsed, supposedly the Empire fell apart."

"Nothing about this remotely resembles the Imperial City. We have people looking in other settlements, but from what we can determine this was at least a major hub. May have been the First City of this world, but it's not the capital. I did get some more names though."

"Run them through current historical archives and see if we can put a story together. If nothing else..." she paused before suddenly an imposing figure appeared on the screen dressed as one might have expected a monarch to dress.

"Reh'nari citizens!" came the voice "This is Imperator Jatel. Today our great Imperium faces a threat the likes of which we have never seen. The Jalari, who have for too long resisted our efforts to unify the galaxy under our command bring with them a foe unlike any other we have encountered. This foe claims to be beyond the limits of the known galaxy, and is intent on slaughtering every Reh'nari man, woman, and child. It falls to you to defend your homeland. It falls to you to join and act for your families and for your people. The idea that we can see peace while the Jalari threaten us in such a manner is a notion foolish at best. Within one hour, your Governors will issue Notices of Conscription to all able bodies citizens of the Reh'nari Imperium for immediate military service. We will defend this galaxy to the last man. A failure to report will result in beheading. Long may we stand. Long live Reh'nar."

Kohren looked at her assistant. "That was Jatel himself. But... where did that message come from?"

"When we activated power sources and got the backups online, it must have triggered something."

"That was 483 years ago. They just sent the message out now?" Kohren said in confusion.

"Foreman Kohren. You need to return to the ship immediately. There's been a development." a voice came through her communication device.

"Development?" she said. "Explain."

"It's hard to explain but... We saw a flash on our sensor array and next thing you know there's a whole other world in front of us. We think it may be the Throne World." The voice said.

"I'll take the shuttle immediately. Kohren out." she said.

So much for a needle in a haystack...
