Hands full of supplies, Siobahn started down to the Marine Sickbay. She was angry... no... she had gone well past angry and blown into full red headed, irish tempered, seething rage.
She was angry at Lieutenant Soran, not only for the lack of respect she had shown toward them, but also the fact that it basically felt like she had tried to sabotage them.
She was also angry at Hailey, not only for the fact that she had basically sent them away like they were being put into time out, as if they were somehow in the wrong, but also because she hadn't even bothered to tell Siobahn that she was back on the ship. She knew that duty was always going to come first, but seriously was a message to much to ask for? 30 seconds... a minute at most?
Finally, she was also angry at herself for being angry and for reacting the way she had to the entire situation.
As they stepped into the turbolift, Siobahn realised that Eries had been talking to her. She sighed softly and cast an apologetic smile toward the nurse. "Sorry Eries," she said quietly. "I was distracted..."
"Tout va bien, Shi-von." Eries also had her hands full, as well a pair of satchels draped across her skinny body, "Madame Docteur Soran est une salope." She sighed deeply, "But at least we are not having to deal with her right now. I believe Madame Docteur Weston intentionally sent us this far down."
"I have no doubt you are correct," Siobahn replied quietly. "She causes the drama and Hailey sends us away like naughty children." Again that fact smarted. The turbolift stopped moving and Siobahn moved through the doors, falling into step beside Eries. "Why we're even preparing the Marine sickbay I don't know, I don't think it's even been used the entire time I've been on the ship."
"Because it IS a sickbay, Shi-von, and we don't know what is going to be the end result of what goes on. I've been in zere before, but only once. Not enough marines to justify eet." Eries shook her head, "But I don't sink Madame Weston wanted to send us away, she had a look in her eyes. I've known her for a few months and she ees not happy, but it is with Madame Docteur Soran, not with us."
"Well, we may as well get this over and done with," Siobahn replied, hesitating outside the doors of the marine sickbay. "Let's go see what we're dealing with."
Eries tapped the controls once, then punched in an override code when it blinked that it was locked down, then keyed it to open to a darkened room, "Eet was seven months ago when I first looked in here, Shi-von, I'm not quite sure I want to look."
"Computer, lights," Siobahn ordered as they stepped through into the near darkness. The lights flickered a couple of times before finally illuminating the room around them, leaving Siobahn to sigh with disappointment. "Well, it's not entirely derelict, but I wouldn't put anything down just yet. "Here, juggle these for a moment?" She managed to get Eries precariously holding the supplies she had been carrying as well as her own, just long enough for her to unzip and remove her jacket, laying it out on a counter top next to the first bio bed. "Here," she said, retrieving the extra supplies she had foisted on the nurse. "We'll pack all this up on my jacket, I suspect it's cleaner than these counter tops."
Once the supplies had been neatly stacked, not contacting any surface directly, Siobahn turned and looked around the room. It was much smaller than main sickbay, and clearly it hadn't been used, possibly ever. She righted a stool that lay on it's side near her feet and shook her head. "It's gonna take a miracle to get this place ready to treat casualties. Let's start by setting the bio beds to sanitize, then if the replicator works, we can get some cleanin' solutions and see what we can do about the rest of it."
Eries wandered over to the closest biobed and activated it, running a finger over the console and coming away with a line of dist on her finger, "Shi-von, I don't think these have been used in well over a month, zey are filthy!" She punched in the commands to activate the sanitization protocol, then glided over to the replicator, entering the request for cleaning supplies, "Sank God... It does work.."
Siobahn nodded in silence, not daring to reply lest the words bouncing around in her head actually fall out of her mouth before she could stop them. Instead she set the last of the bio beds to sanitize and accessed the environmental controls, increasing the filtration in the recycled air around them. Already she could feel the dust irritating her eyes and making her sniff. Replicating additional cleaning supplies, she grabbed her items and moved to the other side of the room, starting at one of the bench tops and scrubbing.
Eries raised her voice just to make sure Siobahn could hear her, "Have you decided what specialty you might be going into, Shi-von? You could be an excellent pediatrician or physical therap-eest. I know I'm pretty much a generalist razzer than a specialist, but as enlisted, I did not get as much of an option."
"Paediatrics," Siobahn replied with another sniffle, brushing at her eyes with the back of her wrist. "I'm actually about to do my first lot of paediatric mid terms in Perinatal/Neonatal medicine and I have a paper due far too soon on Xenopediatrics which I should probably start writing soon."
"Oui and I know you're quite busy. Is there anything I could help you with?" Eries asked with interest, "I am rather well versed in many of the species of the Federation."
"I was actually toying with an idea for the Xenopediatrics. I spent a while having drinks with Koh recently and we were sharing stories, and, well, I find the species incredibly interesting. For a species that is so physiologically different to humans, it seems that children are children, no matter what species they are. Most of the others in my tute group are focusing on differences in culture or species so I thought I'd focus on similarities." She sniffed again and rubbed at her eyes before dropping the cloth she was using to clean and stopped, looking at the storage units above the benches. "If the doors have been closed, what do you think the chances are that inside the storage units is going to still be clean?"
"I don't believe they will be, Shi-von, unless they were vacuum sealed like they should have been, if they were properly put into deep storage. But,Madame, zees is in the area for ze Marines and I would be more surprised than not eef they did it right." Eries shook her head, dropping another dirt-caked cloth into the bucket next to her and plucking another from the pile.
Siobahn sighed softly. "Well, I will start recycling anything in the cabinets. I'm not sure it's worth restocking supplies given how infrequently this place gets used it seems to be kind of pointless. Anything we need above and beyond what we need we can replicate on the fly as we go. As much as I'd like more hands on experience, I doubt we'll see much of anything that does come in down here."
"I don't believe so eizher, Shi-von, but I zuppose that thees is important to do in any case." Eries kept pulling out more and more supplies and gave a mou of disgust as she took them to the replicator to recycle them, "If you want my opinion? Let us jeest close zis one down. A locker of basic first aid, but nothing significant."
"I think that is actually probably a great idea," Siobahn replied, shaking her head and holding her hand up to cover her face as she started sneezing again. "I never realized so much dust and grime could accumulate in space!"
"Just like children, who can find a patch of dirt on a spotless white tile floor." Eries agreed, "Space seems to be one of those special places."
Siobahn sighed softly as she cleared another shelf. Well, at least we won't be here all night, if we keep working we'll get it knocked over quick enough."
"Oui, Shi-von." Eries sighed herself, "Nothing else except to get eet done."
"Maybe we can save up all the dust an dump it on her head when we're done..." Siobahn laughed to herself as she got a clean cloth and started on a new surface.
The grin that crossed Eries's face was completely anathema to her personality, "When she ees not looking, oui."
Siobahn grinned. "I won't tell if you don't."
