ON:
T'Kyra was more than irate, she was down right fuming! "Commander I know you went through hell and I also know what it feels like to lose a ship. But sir I have to protest about this Alex person", she said. She knew that he was also not happy from the look on his face.
"Elisa, go see medical." Jack told his gunner, who was cradling an arm. He furrowed his brows as he removed his flight helmet, looking over the scorched aft panels of his core block. "You and me both, T'kyra. And not just him but this whole situation." He let out a forceful sigh, almsot like a snort. "This whole mess stinks."
"I agree Commander. Little or no time to get ready was really a stupid move. How was I supposed to get these fighters prepared and the pilots together for a good briefing?", she asked. "Not to mention what we were up against", she added.
"Well, we didn't exactly have a lot of warning." He scowled, running his hand over the scorched back panel of his core block and examining the soot. "Things like that happen, T'kyra. We don't always have the intelligence we need, or the wrong intelligence. What matters is how you deal with the situation when your intel doesn't suffice." Jack muttered. "In hindsight, I would've ordered micro torpedo pods. Saturate the area with munitions, give them something to dodge. But hind-sight is twenty-twenty."
"Yes, but Commander, the idea of turning the squadron over to a person, who does not know the abilities of our fighters and how we fly formations is ludcrist at best. Look at the end results! Two of our fighters completely gone, you losing your ship, and more lives sacrificed because basically we didn't know...I would like to get my hands on this 'Shockwave' and strangle him...", she said. "Because of him I nearly lost myself and 6 in that mess right before we lost you. I will say this, if it hadn't been for my studies of ancient Earth fighter warfare, we would have lost more than we did. Our people did good out there, but I want this guy's head for a punching bag!", she said heavily.
"Yeah. Me too. But I didn't make CAG on a squadron of cutting edge prototypes by letting my anger rule me. So I'm going to go to the debriefing, see what this is all about, and have words with 'Shockwave'. Make sure he understands that from this moment going forward, my squadron is under my command. Not his." Jack scowled, turning to T'kyra, expression softening. "You lost it bad, out there. That was borderline insubordinate. According to the book I have to at least give you a warning. But, now that that's out of the way, you did good out there and I'm glad to know you've got my back in this. I owe you a drink." A pause, shoulders slumping somewhat. "After writing two letters."
"Yes sir I did come close to insubordination but you must admit I had a good reason and no sir the drink's are on me!", she said with a smile.
"Hence me giving you a weak excuse for a warning and not noting it on your record." Jack didn't share her smile. "Here comes Shockwave. You go make sure the ships we have left are serviced, refueled, rearmed. We might get called on to launch again. I'll go have that debrief now." A sigh. "Not looking forward to it."
"Understood Commander", she said, throwing a quick look at Shockwave as he approached. Turning her head back, she walked quickly towards to where "No Mercy" was parked and started make note of the scars from this fight.
