To say that she was annoyed was something of an understatement, more like absolutely seething. How in the name of Hades can sickbay manage to 'lose' a patient? Not in a 'send the corpse to the morgue' type way, that she would understand, but in a 'they may or may not be in the ship somewhere, and we don't even know his name!' type way. She sighed and ran her fingers through her blonde hair, drawing in a deep breath. To give them credit, she knew sickbay had been slammed with taking on the injuries from the Icarus and the at least they had volunteered to form their own search party and find him, but with the ship recovering from the skirmish and the delegation from the Icarus about to arrive, the last thing she needed was to have medical officers stumbling around the ship doing God only knew what.
No, they needed to remain in sickbay, as much for their own safety, and this needed to be resolved... immediately. "Computer, locate Lieutenant Sandra Garcia."
"Lieutenant Garcia is on the bridge." the computer replied
Garcia was monitoring power distributions cautiously. The damage had caused a few shorts in the power relays and she was trying to work with engineering to compensate. Thank god for capable engineers, she thought to herself.
Feeling rather frustrated with herself, Shaille made her way back to the bridge, suddenly remembering the fact that Garcia was the one who had stayed behind to try and resolve lingering issues. Thankfully the return trip to the bridge was a short one. As she stepped out of the turbolift, she glanced around, taking in the few officers left pottering about. Quickly she made her way to the operations console, offering a vague smile. "Lieutenant Garcia, if you can spare a moment, I need your expertise to solve a little issue that seems to have cropped up."
"A little issue, hmm?" Garcia asked. "What can I do for you?"
Shaille paused for a moment before deciding to cut right to the chase. "I need you to access the transporter pattern buffers and isolate all the biometric scans from each transport for everyone that came across from the Icarus," she explained quietly. "Lets just say one of these peeps is not like the other, so if you can tell me where every biomatter signature that beamed aboard is right now we should be able to easily isolate what I'm looking for."
Garcia chuckled. "Well now that might be the easiest thing I've done all day. And I should be able to do that and work around some of the power shorts that last attack stuck us with."
"I know you're all busy with repairs so I really do appreciate your taking the time to help me," Shaille smiled apologetically. "Hopefully they don't come back in a hurry, I think everyone needs a breather after that."
"I'd be okay if they never came back... Whatever the hell 'they' were." Garcia replied. "We seem to find all the fun scraps lately, don't we?" she added, pulling up the transporter logs.
"I think we all would," Shaille replied. "There were 18 injured crew members that were transported over from the Icarus, all beamed directly into sickbay. Most of them are still there, so we can most likely exclude them. One of them has done a runner from sickbay and is loose on the ship somewhere. That's the one I'm looking for."
"Now that's a whole other way to lose a patient. Is it a 'Doctor Soran and Doctor Lin will have my head' kind of thing?" Garcia said with a bit of a grin.
Shaille shook her head and cast a scathing look back at Garcia. "I wasn't the one who lost the patient... and I strongly suspect this is a Doctor Soran and Doctor Lin will be kissing your feet and singing your praises type thing."
"I sure hope so." Garcia said. "A runner, eh? What kind of ship did we help that someone feels they have to run away?"
"Honestly, judging by what I saw of the aliens we just went up against, I'd probably want to run away too," Shaille replied easily. "Especially with the mess it left the other ship. I'm surprised they survived the entire encounter."
"No doubt." Garcia replied. "I've excluded the unreleased ones which leaves us with at least three roaming about the ship. Want to start putting faces to buffer patterns?"
"Faces won't do me any good, I haven't seen him." Shaille sighed. "None of them should be roaming about the ship though, can you tell me where they're located?"
"Two look like they're just wandering aimlessly close to sick bay... The other one appears to be... Accessing a Jeffries Tube conduit on the other end of the deck."
"I'll bet dollars to donuts that that's my man." Shaille reached up and rubbed her temples gently for a moment as she contemplated. "Can you lock onto his bio signature and beam him directly to the brig? I'll send a security team to check on the other two."
"On it." Garcia said as she made some quick reallocations. "That should be enough to get a transporter lock to hold... and energizing." she said as she watched the status... The transport was still taking a smidge longer than usual but it seemed to be holding. "Hey, we didn't take out power to half the ship. Always a good start!" she smirked.
Shaille laughed. "Right now I'll take what I can get. Just keep the transporters running smoothly, who knows, we might need them! So my visitor made it to the brig intact? I don't need to write a Dear John letter to his commanding officer?"
"He's in one piece." Garcia replied. "I'm sure that his CO will want him to stay that way so SHE gets the pleasure of taking him apart."
"Only if I don't get to him first!" Shaille shook her head slightly. "Which may not happen given that I'm due back on the bridge. This was a distraction I didn't need to deal with!" She cast another quick smile at Garcia. "Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Definitely made my job much easier!"
