Missing Puzzle Pieces

Posted on Tue Jan 8th, 2019 @ 9:12pm by Ensign Felicie Rivero & Lieutenant Cor Cordale & Lieutenant Renee Salchin

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: Main Engineering

Felicie had been going over the sensor data from the skirmish the Wellington had been involved in with the Shalti, looking for something, anything that may have indicated that they had taken on aliens. If they could work out how the aliens got into the ship in the first place, they might be able to use that information to use that information to run a more targeted scan and find the Shalti on board.

The problem was, there was nothing that was immediately obvious, there were no signs of transporters or anything else that leapt out with her as an immediately viable way for giant killer bugs to have entered the ship.

Looking up, Felicie noticed Lieutenant Cordale walking across the room with Lieutenant Salchin. "Lieutenant's," she asked quickly, hoping to grab their attention before they disappeared. "Have we got a comprehensive listing of all the damage the ship sustained in the Shalti attack?"

Cordale's ears perked as he heard Felicie's request, and he finished his conversation with Salchin after just a moment. He turned his attention back to Felicie after such, "Hmm? Oh, hold on a moment." he beckoned for the ensign to follow him over to a wall screen, and he punched up a few lists, "We're a little backed up here, here, and here but all the little stuff we've got patched up nice. Hold on, let me transfer this to a PaDD for you." he called over an Engineering crewhand and requested a spare engineering PaDD for this purpose. "Looking to bring this up to the higher ups for a priority list on the repairs?" the Thux asked.

Felicie shook her head quickly. "Looking for any way that the Shalti might have been able to infiltrate the ship without setting off any of our sensors. I figure if I can work out HOW they got onto the ship, there's a chance we can reverse engineer to use that information to find where they are on the ship." She grinned sheepishly as she shrugged. "I never said it was a good idea, but anything is worth a try, right?"

"Wait, we have intruders on the ship?" Cordale asked with a tilt of his head, "Then why aren't the in.. you know what, crazy aliens, new rules of engagement." he shook his head, "Best points of entry are here, here, and here where the largest clumps of damage are. If they're using some form of launched, single entry breaching pods." Cordale offered, clutching at straws essentially.

"Should we be locking down Engineering? Handing out phasers?"

"Probably wouldn't hurt." Renee shrugged, "But I think we would have had some sort of impact warning if something had breached us and well... We haven't." She pursed her lips in thought, then snapped her fingers, then pointed to the left and upwards slightly, "Icarus. We didn't take a lot of damage from the bug-people, mostly from those damned big guns of their buddies. But Icarus looks to be half wrecked by them and who knows what could have gotten in there. Boss, getting over here would have been a cinch in one or more of the shuttles, right? With all the wounded and the repair crews and their people getting a few hours off the ship, God knows they have enough opportunity."

"So you think they might have come back in a shuttle?" Felicie asked curiously.

"Most likely. Oh, certainly they could have come over in a transporter beam, hidden in the activity we had going on, but that could be checked pretty easy." Renee casually reached out and snagged a passing crewman, "Check all the transporter logs, everything that came over either way to the Icarus. Get Lansky to help you, anything looks abnormal, tell me pronto." She patted him as he nodded and walked off to a slender, really young woman. "Did we sweep up much of the Icarus debris, Boss? I was working on something else."

Cor held up a hand, "Alright, so we have three options. Either they hitched a ride with a transporter, in which case check the logs and flag anything non-standard. Or, they hitched a ride on a shuttle or a piece of debris we cleaned up. In which case we check the security feeds and issue a general be-on-the-lookout." he continued. "Or, or... they launched themselves in on entry pods. End result is, we have invaders. Internal sensors might not be able to get a lock or a bead because they may just be weird as far as our sensors are concerned. Coordinate with the Icarus for their sensor settings and modulations. They *have* to have a setting to detect these things. Otherwise we're blind, looking for where they've already been."

"Might not be a bad idea to lock off junctions of the tubes. No need giving any intruders free reign into the systems." Cordale added.

Felicie nodded quickly. "Anyone who needs to access them for any reason can do a manual over ride to get in. Other than that I don't see any immediate need to keep them open right now. I'll get that done immediately Sir," she said returning to the console she had been working at to start locking down tube access throughout the ship.

"I'll get in touch with Icarus's engineering crew-" Renee cut herself off, "Maybe you should, Boss.. I don't know what would happen if I went and met myself, no, I can find someone else of theirs, maybe see if I can wheedle my way into their computer system, pull a complete profile on these things as well."

"At this point anything we can find out I guess is going to help," Felicie said with a half shrug. "Anything would be better than facing them blindfolded. I'll finish locking out the tubes and I'll let security know that it's been done."
