Having run the small group through testing their weapons to make sure everything was correctly functioning, Corinne and Lita led the way through the ship, making their way up to deck two. Normally she would have made small talk as they walked, but the air around them this time was definitely a lot more sombre than would have otherwise been expected. Even Jackson and his smart mouth were surprisingly silent.
The sound of their footfalls on the carpet reminded Jackson of being back at the academy and running drills. Silent except for the sound of footsteps keeping them all in time. The marching drills had been a particularly favorite punishment of one of his lecturers at the Academy who would make them march grounds for any and all misdemeanors, whether it was rain, hail, snow or shine. He almost shuddered at the thought. With a glance to his left he noted the junction access and almost smiled. "Could be worse," he murmured quietly. "At least we can still use the turbolift. We don't have to climb up to deck two in the tubes. I don't really know what these things look like, but I'm sure I don't want to find out close up in a sealed tube."
"Fingers crossed to the Prophets that we never find out." Laro replied, hunting and looking around for these things... "Nothing matching the information we have on this area." she replied. Her tricorder then beeped... "Looks like we might have company. On Deck 9. Could be a false alarm but I'm not a chance taker."
Corinne stepped up next to Laro, glancing over the display on the tricorder. "No, I agree. We'll move down to deck 9 and take a look, it seems a more likely bet right now. Come on folks, time for a change of scenery."

Stepping out of the turbolift on deck 9, Corrine looked around, a cold shiver running down her spine. Reaching up, she tapped her commbadge. "Wisemann to Engineering, is there a problem with the environmental controls on deck 9? The lighting seems to be malfunctioning and it's much warmer than I would have expected."
"Stand by Ensign," came the reply. After a few moments Corrine's commbadge chirped again. "Engineering to Wisemann, it appears the environmental units for deck 9 have sustained damage. Please advise if it is safe to dispatch a repair crew."
"Not at this time Engineering, we will advise when the deck has been cleared." Corinne said calmly, closing the commlink before looking around the small gathering. "I hope you've all been eating your carrots, it looks like we're doing this in the dark."
"No pressure." Laro replied. "It's not just environmental controls. They've gotten into some of our secondary backups. If those go down, we could see a catastophic ship failure. But again... No pressure."
Corinne was about to reply to Laro when she saw the movement from the corner of her eye, spinning on her heel and holding her weapon up in front of her as she surveyed the corridor ahead of them. "Is that a junction or a T cross section?" she asked quietly, even her whisper sounding loud in the sudden silence.
"It's a T cross section," Jackson replied, moving up next to her, his own weapon held armed and ready.
"I saw it too, it looks like there was two of them," Lita's voice came from half a step behind them.
Corinne nodded and motioned toward the bulkhead. "Stay to the sides and stay quiet, don't fire unless ordered," she said quietly as they started moving forward silently.
As the small gathering approached the cross section, Corinne and Lita moved to the right, Jackson moving to the left. With practiced ease, the three of them moved into the open corridor, covering both directions of the cross section.
"This way," Jackson hissed.
Turning toward him, Corinne and Lita both adjusted their weapons, their gazes settling on the two aliens in front of them.
"Fire on my command," Lita ordered softly.
Before any command could be given, the Shalti were caught in the transporter beam and removed from the ship.
"Levine to Wisemann, the Shalti have been removed from the ship. Have your team return to the weapons lockers to hand in weapons."
"On our way," Corinne replied before glancing across at the others and shrugging slightly. "Well, I guess that's that then. Who wants a drink in the lounge to celebrate our success?" she finished with a grin as they started back toward the turbolift.
