ON:
Hawkeye was really rattled and it wasn’t long before she broke down and had a good cry. It wasn’t like her to break down but it was inevitable and apparently it was necessary for her to release her emotions. She wasn’t aware that she had entered into the beginning stages of the Ponn Farr and whether or not she wanted to accept it the fact was it was happening again and it was affecting her judgment. True she was some what of a loose cannon and that is why her father had Charlie McDougal stay with her through out her career in Starfleet. He was her stop gap method of simmering down when the situation was needed. However, this time Charlie was not what she needed to hear at this point. Hawkeye wiped away the tears and got up and walked to the replicator and got a hot chocolate and took a seat at her computer terminal. “Computer, open channel to USS Kentucky, Eagle Squadron Lt. Cmdr. T’Lar “Viper” Bishara”, she said.
“Channel open”, came the reply. On he screen was the face of her sister T’Lar with a look of surprise and deep concern.
“Hawkeye? What a surprise but I can see you have been crying. What’s up sister?” she asked.
“Hi sis, I needed to talk to someone. I guess you can see I have been crying too!”, she said, wiping the residual tears from her face.
“Yeah, I can see that. What the hell has gotten you so damn upset that you had to call me in the middle of the night?”, she asked. T’Lar, who hadn’t seen her sister in about four years was beginning to get concerned by her sisters demeanor and sat back to listen to her younger sister.
“Well...as you know I got transferred to the USS Wellington after the fiasco on the Pathfinder five years ago. Well...”, she said and then looked away from the screen.
“Go on Hawkeye...continue...I am listening...”, Viper said.
“Well it has been rough but it didn’t get bad until I found out that the entire squadron from the Pathfinder had been transferred here. I nearly died. Not because it brought back bad memories but it also brought Commander Lawson here as CAG as well. You know who I mean, sis, the man who I swear hates me worse than life itself. I swear, if I didn’t know better I would say he is somehow related to me in some manner. I mean why else hate me so? Was it because I married Cmdr. Mark “Dead Eye” Lawson’s son, John,...maybe he blames me for his death...I don’t know but this man hates me. I don’t know sis, this is not good. Not to mention that my Squadron leader is Cobra...you know...the one I always get into problems with in her flying. Well anyhow she and I got into it and well you know how I can get when you question my flying abilities. Well to that end she ordered a flight sim with me and I found out that the sim she had programmed was for a third year cadet and I didn’t think it was proper to show her my abilities that I had honed out here so I changed the program to the one where you and I did with the five fighters and you got hit…and well you know the outcome of that sim. In any case, she found out and well you can imagine she blew up at me and it was all I could do to contain my anger and irritability cause I didn't want to get busted back to cadet. I have no doubt that she will go to Lawson and tell him as well as Hot Dog, who is my Squadron Leader here as well and well it is something I don’t need not now. What the hell do I do...sis...please...”, she said, almost in tears now.
T’Lar was listening to this and was thinking on how to approach this with her sister in such a state. Choosing her words carefully she began. “Sis...listen...I know how much your career is to you and I understand that you are going through a crisis right now. Are you entering into the beginning stages of the Ponn Farr? If so you might want to take care of the need now before it escalates into something way out of control later. You know that your emotions are not in control and you have the tendency to show your true colors. It is in your best interest that you get this situation fixed now and not later. Second, as far as Lawson is concerned, I don’t think that he is related to us, but if he is I am sure he is not concerned with who you married and what happened to him. I am sure that this is going to blow over but you have to remember, you are a subordinate and must conform to the chain of command. In this case, Hot Dog as your Squadron Leader, Cobra, your Squadron Commander and Lawson, your CAG. You can’t go around circumventing the orders of your superiors whether or not you think they don’t show your skills or abilities. Remember you are always being tested whether you are on the deck or out there in the cockpit. You are always being tested and watched for the slightest deviation from the normal. Who would want a wing man who is unable to fly correctly? I know I wouldn’t and neither would you so what makes you think you are different? Sis you have to understand, they are thinking about your career and your life while you are under their command. They have to be able to count on you out there flying side by side, guarding their wing and ass, and to have you out there flying unbalanced is a no no. I don’t know what else to tell you girl, just get it together please. Dad won’t be happy if this gets back to him and you know it. Straighten up sister and fly straight. Let me know how all this pans out won’t you?”, she said finishing up the counseling session.
Hawkeye’s face went pale. Had her sister actually read her completely correct and with out even asking her outright before the conversation began? True she was feeling a bit out of sorts and her emotional state was slightly off but she didn’t think it showed. Had T’Lar seen that? What if...the thought nearly floored her. Was it possible that at her age it was beginning to affect her ability to function? She couldn’t say much to her sister at this point cause it did make sense to her. “T’Lar, I didn’t know it showed and I certainly didn’t intend for it be...well you know...known. I will take care of the emotional part fast and will be careful in the future but what about...well I guess you know what is best. I will try to accept that they are doing this for my benefit. Thanks sis for the chat. Love you loads.”, she said and closed the comm. “Oh my GOD!! What the hell have I done?”, she screamed to an empty quarters except for her pet bird, who came careening around the corner and landed on her shoulder in an effort to comfort his needing master.
