Location: Main Engineering
Timeline: During "The Unexpected End"

"Try adjusting the relay to work around those chips as well. We may be able to at least get one or two transporters back." Meru called out.
"Nothing, Commander. It fried us good. The chips are failing all over the ship and we've got Gelpak ruptures now." the engineer said.
"Damn." Meru said. "When I find out who's responsible for this, I might be going away for murder."
J'Loni was on the other side of the engine room working with Cordale repairing a ruptured ODN line when she pulled out and stood up suddenly. Her face was completely twisted and frozen in time as it were. She grabbed her head...opened her mouth...crumbled to the floor in a heap. William...who was nearest to her...reached out to her. A few minutes later she started to come around and there were tears streaming down her face. As he helped her to her feet, you could see she was visably shaken and quite upset. "Oh my GOD!! They are gone...all of them...just gone! I can't sense them at all...first surprise...then pain...shock and surprise. All of it in an instant and then gone... Something has gone terribly wrong with the Captain's yacht...they are gone!", she cried sinking into her husband's arms.
Alennis went running from where she was. She'd heard the noise but didn't hear the last part as she was still focused on repairs. "Commander... Is everything okay?" she said, a little bit concerned and still quite confused. The other engineer she was speaking with was behind her.
Looking at her boss...Commander...they are gone...I mean the Captain's yacht is gone. I can't sense them! I was hit by an incredible intense wave of emotion...shock...terror...pain and surprise all at the same time", she said with the tears still rolling down her cheeks. Her face was still contorted as her head was splitting with pain from the experience. She had no ontentiom of going to sickbay either...not with what was happening now.
"Do you need to step away?" Meru asked. She knew if a half Betazoid was in this much pain, then something had to be up. At that point, the ship started shaking. "Oh for the Prophets' sake. Now what?!" she said as she ran back to her console.
The Thux was simply watching the display. It wasn't that he had some form of emotional disconnect, or that he was a quarter sixteenth Vulcan or anything. Just thankful at the moment that he wasn't empathic. "We've got power constrictions at seventeen points." he turned to Meru, "The shield projectors are being starved for power, and sensors just registered the preliminary shock wave washing over us. The actual wave from the yacht's detonation? That's about thirty seconds behind." not a ton of time.
"I routed every ounce of juice I could to the projectors, but whatever those bottlenecks are, it's starving the system."
"Looks like Operations is routing away power from.... Are you serious?!" Meru asked... "Propulsion and weapons? Like.. do we not expect to be attacked?" she asked as the red alert klaxons went off.
At that point, a distraught Engineer ran in.. "Ma'am... I don't know if you heard but..." her voice began to break. "It's the Captain. He's dead. They all are. It exploded." she announced
Meru paused for a moment to look at the crew around her. Some were distraught as murmurs of shock were heard in the vicinity. A sad expression was on her face and even she was about to feel choked up. Captain Ross had been someone she looked up to and respected. He was a good man. And a fair one. "May the Prophets guide them on their journey." she said. "I need all of you to keep focused as best you can. We need to get through this. I promise, there will be time to mourn. But we just need to avert this crisis."
J'Loni's jeart sunk again realizing that she had confirmed what had just happened. "Commander, I speak from experience, but I think that it is time for me to pull one of my engineering alert calls here. My crew know what a level one alert is and what it entails. All I need is your ok to issue it and we all react as a unit. Sir, it is not the first time I have used it and I can guarentee it won't be the last. Time is of the essence...", she said as the ship was rocked...hard.
"Do it." Meru said. "Let's get this dealt with." she added, feeling almost a little defeated herself.
Not waiting..."Alert Level One!", she bellowed...losing her footing in the sudden movement of the deck. "What the hell...", she muttered outloud. The Musketeers jumped into action. William was already gathering his damage control teams while Eric was dividing his people into two teams for his areas of work. Hawk was working with his people. On the environmental and srtuctural systems and Thomas was working feverishly on his propulsion systems. J'Loni grabbed Christine, Cordale, Salchin and any other loose engineer, including a bewildered Charlie, and attacked the other comprimised systems. She gave a thumbs up signal to Alennis and indicated for her to join her little party. "Commander join in and I don't want you to feel like I want your job. It is tbe only way to attack a situation like this head on. Oh and I would like your approval to have a double forcefied around the warp core. It is a cautionary measure. You also might want us to carry our personal phasers. I got a very bad feeling about this and tbe thought of sabotage is very likely right about now", she added.
"We should definitely be armed right now until we've ruled out an attack." Meru said. "Phasers to stun, people! And let's get that double force field up."
