Location: Valeria's quarters
Timeline: Before "You are Requested..."
She was the vision of efficiency as she took carefully measured steps towards the officer's quarters, medical kit strapped over one shoulder, held in place by a precisely kept hand. The blue eyes of the blonde woman glanced about here and there, making sure she wouldn't hit any of the rare people she passed and checked out the numbers of the passing quarters until she stopped and settled her feet right next to each other and pressed the chime next to the door, "Madame Mordin?" She asked.
Valeria had just finished a refreshing shower about ten minutes prior, and was dressed to relax in her off-duty regulars. A comfortable shirt and a loose pair of pants. Her ears twitched at the chime, and again at the voice behind the door. "Just a moment." she called, before turning towards her terrarium and taking up a thick black fabric cover. A beautiful set of flowers, resembling soft blue-green irises that blossomed under an alien star, shined in the dark with a soft glow all their own. She gave the flowers a glance, then put the cover over them to stifle their glow.
That taken care of, she padded her way to the main room and turned her full attention to the doorway, "Enter."
Eries stepped in with a smile and glanced around briefly, "Merci, Madame." She caught sight of Valeria, "I am Eries Capillon, one of the nairses here on ze Wellington." Her French accent was quite apparent, her smile warm, "I heard zat you were in the Brig for a while and it ees standard procedure for a brief examination once someone is released. Nosink major, just a quick lookover."
"Of course. Please, come in and be at ease." Valeria invited the nurse in. "Can I get you some tea?" always the gracious hostess. She'd be getting herself a cup regardless. More of a mug really, you can't live among Terrans without picking up their appreciation for 'gratuitous beverage containers'. "Where would we be handling the examination?"
"Oui, Chamomile if you have it?" Eries set her pack down on an empty chair, unsealing it, "And it really ees a simple thing, mostly just a scan to ensure you haven't been injured and to treat any injuries you may have received. Completely non-invasive and only takes a few minutes total. Could be done anywhaire, even just standing here."
The rabbitess gave a soft nod, and set about to the wall replicator station to conjure up two drinks. One, a fine teacup of chamomile tea while the other was a more Terran appropriate mug. Black tea, as black as the void of space, with a single flower petal floating on the surface. She returned to the main room and set the nurse's tea down for her, before she took a seat and set her mug down gently. "In that case, we can begin whenever you're ready. There's no rush."
"Merci." Eries took the medical tricorder out of her kit and placed it on the table, sitting and doing the polite thing and picking up her tea and taking a sip of it as she cupped her hands around it, She reached out and pressed a button on the machine and aimed it towards Valeria, then perched forward to the edge of the chair, "It will only take a couple minutes for ze scan. I see zat you don't appear to be injured outwardly, so that ees good. I cannot imagine what eet would be like to be arrested like that."
The rabbitess gave a sly smirk, "I was trouble as a kid, so it wouldn't be the first time the authorities knocked at my door." she hid her next expression behind a sip of tea. "Running at that point only gets you in deeper trouble. Besides, Lo'Mah struck me as a controller. He wanted me to run, wanted to flex his ego. So, my little rebellion was compliance." she gave a slight giggle at the mention. "He was furious, but... since I wasn't resisting he couldn't do anything. A prisoner of his own vices."
"As for injuries, nothing on the surface, but my shoulder is a little tighter than usual. I had to hit Lo'Mah with a check when he came to my cell and tried to, I suppose, tried to kill me." she paused, "At the time, I was running on adrenaline and fear, but if it wasn't for Roger things would have been much worse off."
Even as she sipped the tea, Eties nodded and kept an eye on the scanner "I can only imagine." She murmured, "And it looks like you are indeed correct! Nothing ees broken and all I can detect is some minor bruising and perhaps a slight muscle strain as a result. Noszing to be worried about, and I can eizer repair eet now, which might take slightly longer than usual due to your biology, or I would predict within three days eet would heal on it's own, of course that would be by not using eet."
"If it isn't any actual trouble, I'd prefer it taken care of sooner rather than later." she admitted and took a sip of her tea. Just savoring the moment, before she gave a soft smile, "In my station, one needs full motion of their limbs so not using my shoulder truly isn't an option."
"No trouble at all." Eries smiled, took a final drink of her tea, then reached back into her medical kit for the dual subdermal and dermal regenerator, standing and moving around to behind Valeria, "If you could please bare your shoulder, Madame?"
A quick sip of tea, before the mug was placed on the table and the rabbitess gave a nod. "Certainly." and she finagled with her uniform to expose the affected shoulder. The soft fur covering the region made a cursory visual inspection almost pointless. She scooted her chair a little closer to the table to use it as a brace of sorts to keep the shoulder from moving. "There. Ready."
Eries held the tricorder in one hand and began to use the regenerator in the affected area, "Mon Fille, my daughter Aurore saw you in the corridors the other day, Madame, she thought you were very cute."
This made Valeria smile softly. Just the ghost of a smile, really. "Thank her for me." she started. Always begin with appreciation. "My people resemble a creature from Earth called a Rabbit. I think most people just find rabbits cute, hence." she paused, "How old is your daughter?"
"She is six, mon petite lumiere, and quite a handful. Unfortunately, her father is on New Earth's base as a security officer, but eet ees better than back on Earth itself, no?" It wasn't taking long for this process, some people just preferred to let these things heal themselves.
"Awww.." the rabbitess allowed a moment of girlish joy to escape, before she reeled herself back, "Six is quite the active age. Is she enrolled in any classes?" she inquired, "I don't quite know how intensive the Federation's education system is, just that I can say that at six, I was in school." she recalled her childhood. "I was also up to no end of mischief, mind you, but I had my older siblings to keep me... well I can't say they kept me out of trouble, but they *did* keep me from getting hurt." she smirked.
"I've never been to Earth. What's it really like? I've seen pictures, but pictures are sometimes just images at the right time."
"She is indeed enrolled in classes on board," Eries confirmed, "And unfortunately, she ees an only child at the moment, though Pierre and I do plan to have another two or three. As for Earth, it truly is a beautiful world, especially southern France, where I am from. Lush greens, ze water of the Mediterranean Sea sparkling on the horizon. Far better than the cities scattered around, the open air is just so woods smelling."
Valeria giggled slightly, "I'm the middle of nine, so I know all about big families." there were very few pictures on the walls or the furniture of her quarters, but what few there were showed off her family. Mother and Father, nine others in the frame... one of which was Valeria... and their Grandfather in a chair in the background. It was taken on a porch, and in the sky behind them there was a breathtaking view of three moons. No stars, though. Either too much light, or they were digitally removed from the picture.
The funny part about the picture was their surroundings seemed very simple. Very quaint. Like a village almost.
"That's my family, back on our farm." Valeria motioned with her head to the one best shot, in her opinion. "I've never been to Ts'usu. We're not allowed." she paused, "But we live on her moons instead. I hear it's a beautiful world, untouched by civilization for thousands of years. Wild forests and flower fields, waterfalls and grasslands... One day, all the damage we did to it will heal, and we'll go back home... but that's not our call." she pointed out. "It sounds like your France is a lot like our village. No big cities, just the people and the open land. Everyone knows everyone, and it's like we're all one big family." she said with a smirk. "Though, it's nice to have a city. Only so much trouble to get into in a small village." that smirk got a bit wider.
She remained still for a bit longer to give the nurse the chance to finish up, or at least catch up. "Tell Aurore to stay in school. Education starts early in Ts'usugi culture, and goes for years. We like to be prepared for everything, really." She admitted. "But, being cute only gets you so far." she gave that ghostly smile of her's. "Gotta have something between the ears."
"It would be a world I would love to see, even eef just from orbit." Eries smiled, patting Valeria on the shoulder as she closed down the tricorder and replaced the regenerator in it's spot, "But she will stay in school, zat I can promise you, perhaps become something more than myself or her father." Eries sat back down, "Anozer eleven, twelve years to go and perhaps more zan that if she becomes an officer in ze Fleet. But if she can see other worlds, like yours, it will be enough."
