Location: Sick Bay

"Come on." Laro said to her former superior officer. "You need to get that looked at."

"You're overreacting." Gervais said. "It just hurts a little bit."

"A little bit? You're practically bleeding under that rag. And I'm pretty sure your hand isn't supposed to look like that." Laro replied. "Also, I was with you in the room, remember?"

"I didn't think I hit it that hard." he said.

"Well, you did." Laro said.

Lin came out from looking at a patient. "Can I help you?" she said, looking at the Ensign. "Holodeck accident?"

"I wish." Gervais said, still a bit angry and sad by what he'd just heard. How on earth could they have settled for that kind of a punishment? He still didn't expect to have hit the console that hard though....

Lin looked at Siobahn... "Can you take him? I'm just reviewing some bloodwork I ordered."

With a nod, Siobahn smiled at Gervais as she motioned for him to take a seat on the nearest bio bed. "What on earth did you do to yourself," she said as she carefully uncovered his hand. "What did you hit? You've done a damn good job of it, that's for sure..." With a shake of her head, Siobahn offered another smile as she picked up a medical tricorder and scanned his hand. "You've broken a couple of bones, and you've done some minor damage to the extensor tendon across the back of your hand. The bones I can heal with ease, the tendon is going to take a little time though. Do you want somethin' for the pain?" she asked gently.

"I, uh.... I got some bad news about Paul's murder." he said before semi-awkwardly correcting himself. "Ensign Copeland's that is. And I may have taken it out on a console."

"Well definitely better a console than a person, but still, next time I suggest a nice fluffy pillow or somethin'?" Siobahn smiled as she picked up the osteogenic stimulator and activated it, moving it carefully across the back of his hand. "Were you close to him?" she asked quietly.

"I think the pillow would have been the better bet." he said. "And yeah...I'd like something for the pain. For the hand anyway." he added with a sad expression on his face. "I met him at the Academy. We were really close and when there were two openings on this ship we applied. Somewhere between first year and third year... He became much more than a friend." Andrew added.

Setting the osteogenic stimulator aside, Siobahn loaded a hypospray and administered the dose silently before returning to repairing the damage to the bones. "I really am very sorry for your loss," she said quietly. "I can honestly say I can't even begin to comprehend how you must be feelin'." Putting the device down, she scanned his hand with a tricorder again. "It must have been pretty bad for you to be angry enough to put your fist through an inanimate object."

"I don't get how Lo'Mah isn't being beamed into space, honestly." Gervais said. "I can only hope someone gives him what he deserves."

Setting the tricorder aside, Siobahn pulled a stool over and sat down, hooking one foot around the leg of the stool. "I guess there's that whole even criminals deserve fair and equitable treatment, and being so far away from Earth I guess it's probably hard to deal with prisoners out here. I don't know, hell, I don't know anythin' about any of it, for all I know it's part of a bigger plan and he's already bein' dissected and sold off for organs on a black market somewhere!" She picked up the tricorder again and smiled. "Flex your hand and make a fist?"

"I could only hope." Gervais said, flexing his hand and making the fist as asked. He grimaced a little as it hurt, as Laro gave a look of 'I told you so..' to him.

Running over his hand again with the dermal regenerator, she remained silent as she watched the device work. After a moment she smiled again. "That's about it," she said gently, "It's gonna hurt for a day or two unfortunately, but it shouldn't be too terrible. If the pain gets too much just come back and I can give you somethin', but in the interim, I suggest you either avoid bad news or inanimate objects until it's healed properly, okay?"

Gervais chuckled. "I'll try. Not easy on this ship these days." he added. "Thanks again."

"That's what I'm here for," Siobahn finished with a smile as she set about to start packing her stuff away and cleaning up the bio bed area.

"Come on." Laro said. "Let's get you to work before Commodore Myers asks too many questions."
