Mission:

Location: Holodeck
Timeline: June15, 2399 1300
ON:
J'Loni was looking for her bat'leth and her kut'luch as she finished getting on her traditional Klingon uniform. She was going to do her exercises on the holodeck. "William, where the hell is my bat'leth?", she bellowed.
"In the damn closet woman! Can't leave it out in the open not with Jenna on the floor", he shouted from the shower.
"Thanks a lot hun", she answered and went to get it. Pulling it from the closet, she picked up the kut'luch and started for the door.
"J'Loni, take one of the wolves with you. They need time out too", William said, making her stop short.
"Are you crazy? I don't know if the captain would approve if he saw me with one", she said smiling at Lone Wolf who was looking at her with his big beautiful eyes. "Allright, I will take Lone Wolf, but if the captain says anything I will have your head!", she said, as they both headed out the door.
They walked through the corridors and through the ship and arrived on the deck where the holodeck was. Coming around the corner, they collided, and nearly knocked down a strange looking alien creature that was dressed in a Starfleet uniform. Grabbing Lone Wolf's collar just in case he had second thoughts, she backed up quickly. "Oh my...um...excuse me sir?", she stuttered looking in shock at the pair of...which at could only be explained in her mind as felines. "We didn't see you before it was to late. I hope we didn't startle you?", she said still apprehensive.
It probably didn't help that the pair was engaged in a bit of light 'mobile reading' at the moment of impact, so while one fell, the other turned to face the mostly-klingon and the canine.
"Oh, no it's my fault, I really should have watched where I was going better. See, I got distracted by a report of a stellar ejection around the corona of..." and then she stopped talking. Like, just up and stopped. Her twin sister, who at this moment had regained her footing and was steadying herself, continued the conversation as though she was the original speaker.
"... Helios Sigma Beta, and it's playing havoc with the magnetosphere of the closest inhabited planetoid. The display is simply dazzling." she admitted and both forms smiled. "I'm sorry, I really should..." and it happened again. Just done talking.
Her twin, however, continued without a pause, "... introduce myself. I'm Rostra Tang, I'm the mission adviser and a bit of a dabbler in interstellar radiology."
After a moment, the silent twin hunkered down a bit in her stature and looked at the wolf, "And who's this fellah?"
It was only a few minutes before she had realized that the twin had spoken to Lone Wolf. "Lone Wolf, sit and recognize as friend", she commanded. He sat down and his fur smoothed out as he recognized them as friends and not an enemy. "Oh he is one of two wolves that I own. His name is Lone Wolf", she said, gently petting him on the head. She wasn't sure just how this was all going to pan out but she decided that it was cool for the moment. "I am...well...this is the second time today that I am meeting a different species and I must say it is intriguing to say the least. I was just on my way to do some exercises and well...maybe you would care to join me?", she said. "Being that I don't know much about your species, I have no idea if you come from a warrior race or not but if you could explain your species to me it might help the transition adjustment for me. You see you do in some ways resemble the Bynars in that they also are twins and do speak like you", she was saying as she entered the program parameters into the console. To J'Loni they looked almost like a cross between a ferret and a mink of some type but she wasn't all together to sure of what to make of their looks. She was totally confused and again she made the mental note to make an appointment with the counselor.
"A wolf? Then it seems Lone Wolf shares a bit of ancestry with me. Pack hunter, if my studies are correct?" the one hunkered down started to ask.
"See, the Dalacari actually evolved from a species of predators that used swarm tactics. They had a partially developed additional lobe in their brain that formed a..."
"... sort of cloud mind, a group empathy that linked the entire pack together in something of a communal proto intellect. In short, you got the drop on one of the..."
"... swarm, and the whole swarm jumped you back. If one found food, they all knew where it was. Made them remarkably successful. In time they got smarter and..."
"... with each jump in intellect, the swarm itself got smaller in number until, a few hundred thousand generations later, they became us." she explained. Though as J'Loni was queuing up her holodeck program, and as Rostra was still following, a concern that the Klingon hybrid brought up concerned Rostra a touch.
"Oh no, no no no we're not warriors at all." she admitted directly, "We're not fans of violent confrontation what so ever. We delegated most of that to drones." she stated.
"Our army, our navy, our fighter swarm, almost entirely comprised of drones. We have Dalacari near the controls in the event that something malfunctions but..."
"... outside of the sniper specialty, which is live Dalacari only, the entirety of our military is Drone swarm controlled by central computers known.. rather ironically...
"... as Thinking Engines. Even though our Joint Defensive Pact forbids research into unleashed AI's."
Looking at the commander, "Drones? Uh huh...so what you are telling me is that the only fighting you do is physically firing a weapon. Well I suppose that it a better way of doing things. In my species, generally we are a warrior race, however because of my upbringing, my loyalties lie with the Federation. Rest assured I have no intention to make you think otherwise. I do know how desperate this situation is and I won't put the mission in jeopardy", she said. The doors slid open, "Care to join me", she said, motioning to the commander.
The pair gave a nod in sync, "Well, to be fair it's more Opposition Harassment. Keep the enemy pinned down, deny them access to resources, and wait for the drones to arrive to deal with..."
"... the threat. The GX-80 is, right now, THE answer to the question 'But what do I shoot at them with'. It's an amazing piece of hardware, but we don't allow it..."
"... to be used by drones. There's too many variables, even for a Thinking Engine, to make the call on the field." she paused, "But, to answer your question...
"... no, we're not a warrior race at all. THOUGH if you're offering to watch the steps and stances I'll certainly take you up on it. The rituals of other races fascinate me."
She paused, "That sounded wrong. I'll rephrase. I'm a researcher at heart, and when I don't understand something or come across something new and interesting I want to..."
"... study it. Ergo, fascination."
"Uh huh...well shall we?" she said and entered the battle arena.
