The passing of time.

Posted on Sun Jan 20th, 2019 @ 10:13pm by Lieutenant JG Siobahn Fallon & Lieutenant JG Odelle Lin & Chief Petty Officer Eries Capillon

Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/5
Location: Sickbay

Siobahn had spent the last few hours wandering through sickbay, alternating between playing tic tac toe with Aurore, who was still established on her own biobed in the corner with an assortment of coloring pages and snacks, and doing basic observations on the patients that remained in sickbay.

Walking over to the replicator, she ordered a series of drinks and set them on a medical tray, walking around the room silently handing them out, starting with hot chocolate for Aurore, herbal tea for Eries and Odelle, and coffee for Janice as well as a hot chocolate for herself.

Looking up from the PADD she was reading, "Thank you Ens. Fallon, it is much appreciated. Just out of curiosity, did you ever get to see our intruder", Janice asked.

"Deck 6," Siobahn replied quietly. "That was where I found Aurore, Eries' daughter." She shrugged slightly, not extrapolating any more on what she had or had not seen.

"Frightening wasn't it? I am glad you both are alright. Any thoughts on what it looked like?", Janice said, trying not to seem overly curious.

"Big and ugly. Kind of like my tenth grade gym teacher," Siobahn quipped with a quick grin aimed at Aurore as she replicated a small plate of cookies and set them in front of the little girl. "Anyone else want cookies while I'm here?"

"I bet!.....Tenth grade gym teacher? Good lord, that ugly??", Janice said. "Oh....please could you get me a piece of cheese cake?", she added smiling.

"No thank you." Eries said, reaching around her daughter to snag one of the cookies over a squeal of protest from the young girl, then kissing her on the top of her head, "And I owe you, Madame, anysing I can do for you, you let me know."

Siobahn replicated a piece of new york cheesecake and carried it back to Janice before shaking her head at Eries. "I didn't do anything," she said with a shrug before pulling herself up onto one of the biobeds near Aurore and Eries. "What do you think will happen with the Icarus? I mean, if they can't close the rift between our realities, will the Icarus have to stay here? Will there be more Shalti coming through with them?" She crossed her legs, cradling her hot chocolate carefully between her hands, blowing across the top of the mug. "This whole alternate reality thing really is just kind of creepy."

"Agreed. No matter how much I encounter it in all my lifetimes.... It's unnverving to think there's another me just laying around somewhere."

"Maybe there is, maybe there isn't..." Siobahn shrugged slightly before blowing across the top of her mug and taking a tentative sip. "I mean... the other me, the one from their reality is dead... You remember the guy who ran away from sickbay? The one from the Icarus? He's asking for asylum, he doesn't want to go back... what would happen if he stayed here and there was two of them? How would you explain that?"

"Twins." From across the room, the voice definitely wasn't as strong as it could have been, the Texan accent familiar. The uniformed woman, wearing the dark blue with gold piping of her own timeline with the name patch of 'Setine' just about over her heart, but bare feet, released the door and began to shakily make her way towards the medical personnel, "Identical twins, separated at birth in a tragic accident, would explain the duplicate DNA." She reached out to the nearest biobed for support.

"Renee!" Siobahn gasped, setting her hot chocolate aside and jumping off the biobed, rushing to put an arm around the other woman. "You shouldn't be out of bed yet, what were you thinking? Are you alright?"

Renee smiled as she accepted the help over to the rest of the people in the room, "Sorry, I took the liberty of reprogramming the replicator in there for a uniform.. Has anyone seen my shoes? I need to get back to the Icarus, she's damaged and I need..." Her legs were traitors and she leaned heavily on on Siobahn even as Eries came over to help the young doctor, "I'll be fine, I promise."

"You need to get back into a bed, you're not going anywhere!" Siobahn admonished. "Least of all back to the Icarus until you're healed. You just had MAJOR surgery, you're lucky you didn't die!" She shook her head, nodding at Eries to help move her to a closer biobed. "Any arguments and I'll sedate your stubborn ass, got it?"

“Compromise.” Renee demanded, “I’ll sit on the bed, let the nannies work. They’re designed to scavenge radiation and flush it from the system, but it does help the general healing process as well.” She let the two women help her into the bed and took a deep breath, “Damn this sucks... But my girl is hurt bad, I need to be over there soon.

"Renee you must allow yourself to heal inside first. The Icarus isn't going anywhere and neither are you, for the moment", Janice said.

"Tell you what, why don't I see if I can get you a PADD and a connection to the Icarus, you can work remotely until you're released from Sickbay," Siobahn offered as a compromise. "Think of it as a vacation, you get room service and everything!"

Scrunching her nose in thought, a trait both her and her counterpart in this universe shared, Renee knew that the Lieutenant was right, but it was the Ensign’s offering that she had to think about for a few seconds, then nodded at the compromise, “Fair enough, but vacation? Ha! I have to make sure the manures are repairing the armor optimally, proper refraction angularities and everything. But it also means I don’t have to try to make it to the door there.” She chuckled.

The engineer reached out, but Erie’s beat her to the elevation button to bring the back of the biobed up to make it a seated position, helping her legs up onto it, “So, docs, what happened to me? I remember I was stabilizing the Core when I saw the wall crumple and a white flash.”

"Honestly, I don't know what happened. You had pretty extensive injuries, but luckily for you we have the best surgeon in the universe on hand," Siobahn said with a smile as she took a light sheet from the replicator and spread it out over Renee's legs. "I assume someone from your ship will be able to tell you more. Sorry, I know we aren't a great deal of help with the information, medical is usually on a 'need to know' basis and we don't really need to know. Now is there anything else you need? Do you want a drink?"

"Just that PADD, really, I can handle the commo over to Icarus from here." Renee smiled, then looked between both the Lieutenant and Ensign, "But you two called me Renee? I know it isn't here," She traced the last name on her chest, "Which means you either had access to my medical file, which you wouldn't have had, or the 'me' in this universe is in the Fleet and you had access to her file, but, the look you had, Ensign... How do the both of you know me?"

Siobahn walked across the room, grabbing a spare data PADD from the desk near the door and opening it, making sure it was cleared, hoping that somehow Eries would miraculously answer the question while she was making herself busy elsewhere. As she closed the small distance between the desk and the biobed, Siobahn handed the PADD to Renee and smiled slightly. "We have our own Renee. Though she isn't a Setine... I am guessing that you are because of that rather good looking man who came demanding answers?" she said easily. "Renee, at least the Renee from our reality, is our friend. You look, and act, just like her."

Renee nodded, "That would be my Alex! And if the Shalti aren't here in this time..." It was clear that her mind was working through possibilities based off of what she was like in the past, "Forgets half of whatever she's doing?"

Siobahn raised an eyebrow slightly. "We just had Shalti on the ship," she said quietly. "No one knows how they got on here.. but we lost several crew members. We've become part of your war, whether we wanted to or not." It was not quite clear from her words if she was upset or hostile about the events or not, but she was at least speaking somewhat honestly.

"Shalti on the ship..." Renee's eyes widened briefly, then she shook her head, "We're not under an alert with guards in here right now, so they must have been dealt with. But I meant Shalti invasion of the Federation." Her fingers and at least part of her attention had been focused on the PADD and she glanced down, "All right, I just sliced into the communications protocols aaaaand I now have a secure link to Icarus." She grinned widely, "Is there a second PADD I could use in just a bit? Not time-critical or anything of the sort."

With a nod, Siobahn retrieved another empty PADD for Renee, handing it over. "Thankfully so far we are the only Federation ship in this reality that have dealt with the Shalti and hopefully it stays that way. Well, let us know if you need anything else." She cast a quick glance at Eries. "I'll go make sure the surgical suites have been restocked," she said quietly. "Just in case."

"Thank you, Ensign." Renee smiled at Siobahn as she went off towards the surgical suite and Eries made herself busy with all the little fussing about a nurse would do, then the engineer looked over to Janice, "Doctor, how bad was it? I mean, the casualties? Do you know if Ensign Copeland survived? He was right there with me when things went to hell."

"As far as I know, he survived." Lin replied. "We ended up moving him into quarters of his own while he recovers." she added while sipping her tea. She could almost use another cup at this rate.

Having finished her coffee, Janice walked over to the replicator, "Does anyone want more tea, coffee, or anything else", she asked.

"Another cup of herbal tea please." Lin replied.

"Sure Dr. Lin...one cup herbal tea coming up", Janice said. Punching in the commands, the tea and coffee appeared and Janice walked to where Lin was sitting and handed her the tea. "There you go Dr. Lin....your herbal tea", she added.
