'Let's see who is here to spend some time with', he thought as he strode into the lounge. Looking around, he walked up to the bar and ordered a Scotch neat, scanning the room. There were several good looking ladies sitting talking and laughing. As he continued to scan, one woman caught not one but both his eyes. She was a knockout in appearence...red headed long flowing hair. Her head was bowed over a PADD so he couldn't ee her face, so hepicked up his drink and walked over to where she sat.
"Excuse me...may I join you...your hair is so inticing and it caught my eyes as I came in for a drink. Can I get you something to drink...err...", seeing her rank, he continued, "Lt. Cmdr...?", he finished.
Trina was engrossed in what she was reading, she didn’t notice Eric as he walked up to her table until he spoke. Jumping slightly, “Huh?...Oh...excuse me I am so sorry. I was really engrossed...”, she started to say when she looked up and saw him standing there. ‘Oh my god...Trina...Jesus what a hunk!’, her mind said. “Um...please sit”, she said indicating a second chair for him to sit. Her mind was now racing and she nearly dropped the PADD she had in her hand, as were her untamed emotions. ‘Trina, now relax don’t blow this’, she said to herself. Looking at him, she noticed his handsome complexion and noticed his pointed ears at the same time. ‘He doesn’t look like the typical Vulcan to me!’ she thought. “My name is Trina Sonchi, Lt. Cmdr. Trina Sonchi, assigned to operations...er...mister?”, she said.
“Eric James Matherson, Lt. Jg. Engineering, Computer Systems and Matter/Energy Systems Specialist, at your service my lady”, he said softly.
“Ah quite the gentleman I see Sir Eric”, she replied smiling. Trina giggled a little when he said ‘my lady’. She was floored by his hazel gray eyes that were almost iridescent in nature. That was definitely not a Vulcan trademark. “Are you Vulcan Eric?”, she asked gently.
“No I am not a full blooded Vulcan. My father is Vulcan and my mother is Betazoid. I guess I could be called a half blood but I really don’t give a damn. While it is true that I can sense empathy and emotions like my mother, I have failed miserably in the telepathy department. I can only link with my mother although my father swears he can talk to me mentally”, he said with some hesitation. He didn’t like talking about his father much, not after the way he did when he was transferred to the Wellington. It would seem his father had other plans for him and when he refused he let him know about it not so nicely. It hurt him and caused him to withdraw into himself. It was his boss who took him out of that hurt quickly as she couldn’t have her protege depressed.
“Well Eric my parents came from Betazed but I was adopted by...”, here she hesitated...drew a deep breath...closed her eyes, clearly something made her stop mid sentence. Continuing, “Well they were Romulan citizens who moved to a Federation Colony outside of the Neutral Zone and lived there. I really don’t know the particulars but growing up and living with Romulan adoptive parents was not such a good idea. I had all types of problems growing up and well...when I went to the academy, I had my share of fights and battles but I did survive and well...here I am”, she said smiling. Trina was nearly in tears at having to explain that but she made it through and sat there looking at Eric’s face waiting for some type of expression.
Eric just sat there looking at Trina’s face, her beautiful deep blue eyes, small mouth, well formed lips, her cleavage was unbelievable, as was her athletic build. She was...and in his mind...was the perfect woman. ‘Wow Eric you hit pay dirt! What a catch. Don’t let this one get away.’ he thought to himself. “Trina, don’t think of it is a bad way. We all have our crazy life styles and some of us don’t have much to say about it either. You learned to live with it and so did I. You still haven’t told me what you want to drink”, he said, hoping to break the moment open. He needed to get the conversation and pace back to relaxing and having a good time.
“Oh I am so sorry...sangria on ice”, she said blushing.
Waving to the barkeep he ordered her sangria and they talked on. He was watching her as she drank her sangria and thought that she would be great company not only for him but maybe for the long haul...meaning a relationship. Eric was getting older and he soon was going to enter the Ponn Far himself and wanted to make sure he had a suitable mate to do it with. He didn’t want to do it with just anybody either...she had to be special and that was just it. Time to pop the question...”Trina, have dinner with me tonight please?”, he asked her quickly.
Taken by surprise...”Yes Eric I would love that. Yes please...”, she said.
“Fine, I will pick you up at 2000. Fair enough?”, he asked.
“Yes that does sound fair. I will be ready and thank you for behind so patient with me. You are the first one that has”, she said quickly turning her head from him.
He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, “Until then my fair lady, until when next we meet”, he said and excused himself and left.
Trina sat there looking at him as he retreated and well she would find out later if he was mister right or not.
