Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/3
Location: Engineering Office
Timeline: June 16, 2399 0830

ON:

It was 0800 and the following day after the explosion of the yacht when J'Loni strode into her office. She had a lot to get done today so an early start was in order. First up was the meeting of the Musketeers to see what they had found in their investigations and findings. The next thing was to make a call to her home world and find out just exactly was happening there before she would decide on her next move.

Tapping her combadge..." Mo"Bri to William, Thomas, Eric, Charlie, Joseph, Zen, Cordale, Salchin, report to my office 0830 for departmental meeting. Bring your information with you, Mo'Bro out", she said and closed the comm. Now she did a more direct comm to her boss. "Commander Alennis, your persence is requested for my departmental head meeting to discuss our findings at 0830 in my office. Mo'Bri out", shhe said closing the comm. Getting up, she put on a fresh pot of coffee and replicated some breakfast goodies and sat nack down to wait for the gang to get there.

Meru walked in, having just come off bridge duty. She was anxious to get some sleep but she knew that wasn't happening just yet. Not the way things had been lately. "Morning, everyone." Meru said. "Please give me some good news I can go to Bowman with."

Renee handed a PADD to her and one to J'Loni from her stack as she swept into the room as well, "Ma'am, I don't think you are going to like a good chunk of the news." She said before J'Loni could respond.

"I'm not liking anything that's happened the last 24 hours, Chief." the Bajoran said as she read through the PADD. "Son of a bitch. Are you serious?!" she said, reading through it. "I'm gunna need something stronger than coffee to get through this day. Has anyone started analyzing the wreckage?" she said as her tone changed to an almost sorrowful one.

"A group of us have, ma'am, but we're still trying to nail down exactly what happened. Even the wreckage is badly mangled." She stopped talking with a glance at J'Loni. She suddenly realized that she was speaking LIKE an officer to the senior engineer and she wasn't wearing the pips of one.

J'Loni could only smile at Renee's comment for now as the balance of the group, William, Eric, Thomas, Joseph, and finally Charlie, strode in...grabbed the hot coffee...and sat, reading the PADD, s that Renee had passed to them.

"All right well.. let's start. Where are we at?" Meru asked

"Major systems across the power grid were a gnat's sneeze away from being compromised. Shield generators were starved for power, and our phaser banks would have been little more than glorified flashlights." Cordale started, "We're tracking down these bum chips wherever we find them, and marking the systems for immediate refit but we're just finding more and more of these chips wherever we go."

"That's here on the Welly. The wreckage itself, that's a different group." the Thux motioned towards the Bajoran with his prosthetic hand.

"The environmental systems were tampered with as well. I found a few isolinear chips that were damaged but the one that stood out was one that, had it failed as it was programed to, would have rendered several decks without oxygen. The chip was programed to rapidly evac yhe available oxygen thus killing a good amount of people. The worst of it was that it was Cardassian and the command was to the bridge environmental controls. I had to go backand double check it before I could say that the chip was an actual Cardassian chip made out to appear Starfleet issue. If I hadn't gone back to re-scan it a different way, it would have gone un-noticed. Also there were a few relays that were misaligned so that if we needed the emergency forcefields, they too would have failed and we would have lost people there", Joseph said.

"Well it hasn't been a picnic in the propulsion either. We also found several relays and optical cables that were damaged. We did some digging and found some that had they been used would have caused power suges all over the power grids", Eric added.

Charlie said, "When I ran scans of several of the converter relays in the plasma flow regulators, several were not up to specs and I replaced them quickly. They were all genuine Starfleet issue."

Thomas was sadly shaking his head by now. "We found something in the warp core computer chips that would have caused the core to either breach or shutdown indefinately. After pulling them and replacing them we did a further investigation on them and I hate to say it, but these were Kligon in design and had Cardassian commands embedded in them as well", he said.

"I don't know whether I should say this but, in my routine checking of my communication systems, I found something disturbing", Christine said, looking terribly frightened.

J'Loni looked at her, "It is alright sweetheart we won't take your head off...just say it."

"Taking a further look see, I found an embedded command that would have been sent to Cardassia Prime when the Wellington was disabled, it would alert the High Command and...the Klingons as well", she said, almost crying.

Before anyone could say anything...J'Loni's fists came down on her desk hard! "That tears it!!! There is definately a saboteur here and...", she bellowed before she realized she was standing. Sitting back down...more controlled..."My appologies but I couldn't contain my anger. I think that you all had enough brains to bring with you your physical evidence?", she said as there were several nodds of agreement. Turning to the commander, Sir, I think you will agree that care must be taken now in keeping a tight rein on this sabotage theory until the Commander, who I must say I don't entirely trust, can be told", J'Loni said.

If you wanted to see a Bajoran get angry, all you had to do was say the word Cardassian. Though she was a child when the Occupation ended, Meru still held a special contempt for them. "The Cardassians?! Here I thought it would be the Organization or something. Though... This sounds too complex even for them. But how would a Cardassian operative have gotten close to the Wellington? There hasn't been any Cardie activity in this quadrant... That we know of." Which of course, was the qualifier on this. "I agree on the precaution. I'll report this to Commander Bartlett. I know you've probably never met her but I've served with her for the last 2 years. She's trustworthy. I want to say we should try and trust the people in charge of us, but there's always potential for someone to be the next Kai Winn."

Renee waited for another moment, "There is on other problem. I was repairing a replicator in Lieutenant Mordin's quarters and found an extra chip. I found that it had a communications protocol on it to the Klingons as well, but the entire encodement was is Ts'usugi. We need to consider they're involved as well."

Meru knew there was a Ts'usugi science officer on board... Potentially, something could have happened... At any rate, none of this looked good. And yet she wasn't sure she could take everything going on at face value. "Agreed. I'll report this to Commander Bartlett as well."

Well then I guess we all know what is needed here before I let you hounds go. But before that...I want to say this...I want to officially welcome three new members of our little party into the fold. I think they have survived this baptism of fire by proving that they can work as a team...so...I welcome Christine, Salchin, and Cordale as the newest members of the Engineering Musketeers...All for One and One for All!", J'Loni said, raising her hand. "In addition...I am personally going to request that Renee get the chance to take her Officer Training here on the ship and the exam so she can get that pip she so rightly deserves. She has proved enough to me that she earned it", she said happily.

Renee smiled fondly at that, "Thank you for the vote of confidence, ma'am, but let's hold off on that until we've dealt with all this, please?" The enlisted woman shook her head slightly, "Me being a Chief PO is good enough to get through the crisis."

"The Prophets never give us more than we can handle... So I'm told." Meru said. "We'll re-assess this after we get through this. Keep working through all this. Try and get propulsion at least to Warp 6 if not 7 and keep patching holes. Hopefully we don't need to defend ourselves yet. Lieutenant Cordale, would you join me in doing an analysis of... what's left... of the engine core on the yacht?"

Cordale gave a nod, "Hip hip and such." he said with a chuckle at the thought of being a Musketeer. "Though yeah, count me in. Forensic Engineering sounds like the next step to finding out what happened." he wasn't sure about who was who anymore, but that was the bond of Engineering. Everyone in this room... he .

"Once again...congrats to the entire group and I know that we all trust each other and I know that you all would give your lives to save each others in turn. I know I would without a doubt, and to that end...let's get back to work quietly without raising suspicions", she said. Satisfied that her Musketeers were now a unified group of trusted engineers, she relaxed slightly before she made her call home.
