Mission: https://wellington.pegasusfleet.site/index.php/sim/missions/id/4
Location: On the Bridge

It was almost twenty one hundred hours by the time Siobahn had finally decided that she was going to actually go up to the bridge. She had procrastinated heavily on the decision, after all, as a general rule medical officers were almost never on the bridge unless there was a medical emergency, and even then that was usually senior officers, a brand new Ensign pretty much never got to the bridge.

Still dressed in something resembling a uniform after Renee's mini makeover, Siobahn pulled her boots back on and made her way through the ship to the bridge. Once she was in the turbolift, going up through the decks, she felt herself getting increasingly nervous until finally the doors parted. She drew a deep breath, straightened her back and stepped out onto the bridge, exhaling slowly as she looked around. "Wow..." she finally said quietly.

The hiss from the doors to the bridge caused Hailey to half turn in the command chair and look up and her eyes opened wide at what she saw. It was definitely Siobahn, but it wasn't what she was used to seeing from her in their limited time together. What she saw... "Wow..." She finally said quietly, then shook her self to bring her senses back to herself and stood, walking over to the helmsman, "Ensign Trevers, go take a break and grab something to drink, I'll be fine up here for fifteen or twenty."

The ensign glanced up nervously, but nodded, "Yes, ma'am, thank you, ma'am." The ensign locked down the panel and walked past the medical ensign with a quizzical look, but was past her without a word. That left Siobahn and Hailey alone on the bridge.

Hailey used her new-learned knowledge to lower the lights slightly "And the screen is a realtime view of dead ahead." She said without thinking, even, and took a few steps closer to Siobahn, "You look... Amazing."

Reaching up to brush her hair back over her shoulder, Siobahn laughed nervously. "I met an engineering officer today... I fixed her broken bone, she turned me into a makeover project." She held her arms out, turning slightly. "You like?" she asked softly, walking up until she was close enough to reach out and take Hailey's hand in her own. Without waiting for an answer, she looked around the bridge, squeezing Hailey's hand gently. "So, this is the bridge huh?" she said quietly.

"This is the bridge."Hailey confirmed, squeezing her hand back in confirmation that yes, she did like it, "And now that Trevers is away for a few minutes, It's just us up here." She led Siobahn to the command chair, then grinned quirkily, "Go ahead and sit, be the Captain for a couple minutes."

Siobahn's eyes widened slightly. "Are you sure I won't get you into any trouble?" she asked, sinking down into the seat and crossing her legs neatly. "The view is amazing though..." she said with a smile, looking up at Hailey. "Is it always this quiet up here at night?"

"It's only been a couple days doing this, but it does seem it. The first couple hours are the busiest of the evening, change of command, end of day routines, settling into the night patterns. Of course, if I run into something major, like say... a Romulan warbird decloaking, I hit the button right over there." She pointed at the console to Siobahn's left, "And we go to red alert and wake everyone up. But if there's anything routine that needs to be handled, like traffic control, routine message traffic, any of a hundred other things, that's why I'm up here. And if I need to make a decision, well, I'm the woman on the spot."

“I am suitably impressed darlin’,” Siobahn replied with a smile, standing back up from the centre chair. “So otherwise you just sit here all night and wait until your watch ends and you get to come home?”

"Midnight." Hailey nodded, "We might have to delay our morning runs by a bit just to get a little sleep, but I don't want to let up on the troops.. And I don't want to spend LESS time with you.I guess that means I'm going to have to spend less time in sickbay treating patients. But I'm really a surgeon specialist, so as long as I keep in practice on that?"

"Maybe I could change some of my shifts around," Siobahn offered softly. "I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard, no one wants to do the night shifts anyway, and if it makes it easier to spend even a little time with you it would be a small price to pay. You shouldn't give up your time in sickbay, I know how much it means to you. It's okay, we can make it all work," she said with a smile, trying to be confident. "It's early days, things will settle down, I know it will."

Hailey half nodded this time, "I can do all of my paperwork up here on these shifts, which means I let Nyx run the troops in the morning, work on their training in the afternoon. Take a couple hours in sickbay, then come up here." She wrapped her arms around Siobhan, "What did I do to deserve you?"

Shaking her head, Siobahn smiled and rested her head on Hailey's shoulder. "No, I think I'm the lucky one," she replied, turning in Hailey's arms and leaning back against the other woman, looking out the view screen ahead. "Are you sure you don't want to find time to run the troops in the morning? I know how much you like to make them sweat," she grinned as she spoke.

"Sleeping next to you sounds better to me, besides... The morning is more just PT and minor marksmanship, which Nyx can handle easily enough. The REAL work is going to happen after eleven hundred and that will be the most fun." Hailey gave an evil laugh.

Siobahn laughed. "One day I am going to have to come down, just to watch," she replied lightly. "I have a sneaking feeling I may actually feel a little bit sorry for them... I mean, I know you go easy on me when we go for our runs..." She shook her head and then laughed again. "Actually, that reminds me, I have a new holodeck program for us... and I promise this one has no nasty surprises, I've used it before. I think you'll like it. We can use it for one of our runs one morning."

"Sounds good to me. And, anyways, you need to come down for some training of your own!" Hailey smiled as the doors hissed open and Ensign Trevers returned, carrying a couple mugs of a steaming liquid, "Ma'am, and.. Ma'am?" He asked, "I brought you up some hot chocolates, really good relaxation drink, my mother always says."

Hailey gave a fond smile, "Thank you, James." The ensign seemed to shine for a moment with the use of his first name, a sign that this new officer appreciated him.

A fleeting look of surprise crossed Siobahn's face, but she accepted the hot drink gratefully. "Thank you," she said softly. "I'm Siobahn..." She paused momentarily and then looked across at Hailey and smiled. "I won't stay too much longer, I don't want to get in the way of your duties."

"You mean beating me in a game of chess?" Trevers said softly.

"Think tactics after eight moves, strategy has to be set up initially, but then it's a matter of tactics." Hailey smiled, "It really gets boring up here, Siobahn, but I'll teach James here some stuff, fear not."

She laughed softly as she sipped at the hot chocolate. "Don't give up James," Siobahn said with a smile at Hailey. "She comes across tough, but I know she has her weak spots."

"That's it, shoo!" Hailey laughed at Siobahn, "I'm really just a taskmaster, don't listen to Siobahn here." Trevers couldn't help but laugh as Hailey started to guide her towards the turbolift, "I'll be back at my quarters in about three hours, or should I come to yours?"

"I'll meet you at yours," Siobahn said with a smile as she was being shuffled toward the turbolift. "I still haven't unpacked..." She peeked over Hailey's shoulder and waved vaguely in Trevers' direction before calling "Thank you for the chocolate!" As the doors to the turbolift opened, Siobahn grinned at Hailey as she stepped backwards, blowing a kiss and waving as the doors closed between them.

Hailey blew a kiss back at her before the doors close, then turned back to Trevers, "I say within ten moves I've got you." He groaned in response.
